FFG Release A Game Of Thrones Catan: Brotherhood Of The Watch
November 28, 2017 by dracs
Fantasy Flight have once again taken Catan to Westeros, but now we head to the frozen north in A Game of Thrones Catan: Brotherhood Of The Watch.
FFG have been steadily releasing previews of the game, building up to its release. As with all Catan games, players compete with each other to develop land and build their territories, in this case overseeing the Night’s Watch lands known as The Gift.
However, there are plenty of new additions to help give this game that Game of Thrones flavour, including being able to call upon heroes of the Nights Watch for aid, as well as other game cards.
However, even while you are tasked with developing The Gift, there is one job that the Night’s Watch must put above all others; defending the wall. So as you work on building up your territory, three tribes of wildlings are gearing up to attack, even bringing Giants to assault the wall.
I think this is where this take on the classic Catan game will get its character, adding a real sense of threat and pressure to a game that can often be a bit more slow and thoughtful.
Will you pick this up and take your place on the wall?
"[Wildlings] add a real sense of threat and pressure..."
So I just had the worst experience buying a new game. I spent a lot of money on Game of Thrones Catan and found out that there are missing pieces and misprints int he rule book and game pieces. I contacted the company regarding it. Here is their response.
Current request status: Closed
Note: Thank you for contacting us with your concerns. We are aware of these misprints in the rule book and the components and we apologize for the inconvenience. We have changed this for our future printings of the game and unfortunately do not plan on have the replacements to send out. We will forward your concerns to the appropriate persons involved and if you have any further questions or concerns please feel free to contact us again.
Thanks!
If you go to buy the game, beware. There are misprints in the rules. There are 4 roads missing, 2 development cards, and 1 wilding token. There are misprints on the Samwell Tarly card, player resource cards, and in the rule book. This is what I have caught so far.
Take it back to the retailer you bought it from and demand a refund.
