Arcane Wonders has offered a great depth of gameplay in their two different types of spell casting card games in Mage Wars: Academy and Mage Wars: Arena.

Being that Warren is on a spell casting kick if this isn't already on his radar, it is now!

When Forcemaster vs. Warlord hit the scene in Mage Wars: Arena, it didn't take long for folks to wonder what a Forcemaster could do in the confines of Mage Wars: Academy. The Academy requires more tactical strategy as you have to consider zone placement.

Knowing the Forcemaster's tactics are more grounded in control, by allowing them to manipulate the opponent's creatures, it stands to reason that they are more spell heavy vs creature heavy. No worries, they've brought something better...

Ethereal creature constructs are joining the Forcemaster spellbooks and they look to be TROUBLE. They are all quick-cast and they all Dissipate over time. Some of them can even manipulate their own extant force to gain extra effects such as the Force Golem. Force Golem can easily live through a lot of punishment thanks to his Aegis 2 trait.

He can remove particularly troublesome enemy minor creatures from the fight simply by using one of his Dissipate tokens. The great thing is, you don’t have to decide to remove the token until after you have seen and applied the results of the dice. Force Golem is tougher than he looks and comparably competitive with other level two creatures.

And then there's the matter of the Priority keyword. Priority means just that - right now - first. So something like the Tomb Guardian and block immediately upon entering the battle.

Have you had a chance to play either type of Mage Wars & how did you like it?
