Poison Ivy Pops Up As A Villain In Monolith’s Batman Board Game

Monolith Edition previewed another of their models coming as a part of Batman: The Board Game. Here we meet the villainous Poison Ivy.
The gallery of villains that Monolith can draw on is deep indeed and it's nice to see them exploring some more of the villains that don't fit the mould of Bane or Joker.
Poison Ivy, with her plethora of different abilities and a supernatural edge, is going to be a bit more of a problem to deal with I'm sure, acting like a bit of a Controller for her minions and the environments she fights in against the heroes.
With her in command maybe we're going to see some plant-like enemies for Batman and co to face off against whilst we're in her domain.
What do you think of the model?

This has to be the best of the ones they have shown already… Just dont like at all Alfred or Robin.
As a player/collector of Batman Miniature Game was really interested in this game but the miniatures they are showing doesnt really force me to back it
I agree with you. I am a collector and a player and really like Knight Models game. I am also a Conan and Mythic batles backer, so… what could go wrong so that i don’t back this project? well, the minis are not specially brilliant and the concept that I think it worked with Conan is something i don’t like in Batman. If it makes a difference, i believe Monoliths Batman will have ” Overlord versus Overlord ” game play.
In my opinion, the overlord concept is the worst thing. When you play Conan, it looks nice to have one hero (maximum two) per Player and cooperatively fight against a “bad guy” that controls the bad guys and monsters. But it is nice to have the heroes cards, to allocate the gems in diferent skills on each character, and this is EXACTLY what knight models’ Batman allows you to do (they did that “gem System” before Conan). To get rid of this mechanic to allow two overlords doesn’t seem the right way, instead it should be “no overlord at all”… Read more »

These figures might draw me into this game as I find them much more desirable than Knight Models’ versions, which, while expertly painted and photographed, give me a rather “meh” feeling when viewed in the blisters. The BMG versions seem rather two dimensional (as if someone put them in a vice and gave them a pressing) and the weapons are extremely spindly. Poison Ivy (above) actually looks 3D.
Perhaps you are used to bulky unrealistic minis so the BMG weapons look to you spindly… it is a matter of tastes, but the KM version are way better and realistic. Perhaps you have not seen these new minis and are talking about older models.

Knight Models “meh”??? Even older models are top notch being white metal. And believe me i have a billion miniatures from almost all brands.
Poison Ivy looks 3d cause is a 3d render not a finished miniature.
Agreed, awful models, small thin pieces you have to scrape a ton of mould lines off before attempting to stick these metal figures together. No thanks. Roll on the PVC models for this game.
Perhaps you don’t like metal minis, but saying that Knight Models are awful is incredibly biased. I feel like most of you have not seen their new range at least in a lot of months. Now they are colored resin, they are 32mm high quality minis, and the only minis right now that are somewhat similar in quality are infinity (corvus belli) ones. No mold lines, simply put because in each resin mini there’s about three or four places where they inject the material (you can see the injection “tubes” surrounding the mini!). They’re not the ONLY models that are similar in quality to Corvus Belli – there’s several companies that rival them on quality. And even CB aren’t perfect – they can be a real mixed bag. They’re great on they’re assembled but can be a real pain to clean and assemble with some parts being so small it’s hard to tell whether it’s a component or just a piece of metal flash. They’re in a very different style- Knight Models really shine is the videogame, movie and film versions of the characters.
They do a good job with their other miniatures as well, but their realistic minis are their most impressive ones (they also have fantastic painters to show off their minis).
These look much less ‘true scale’ and I suspect that the larger eyes will make them easier to paint. The style can work for Batman, since the character has been presented in so many different styles before.
Personally I don’t think True Scale works as well for comic heroes as heroic scale. But that’s just me and to be honest I am not a big comic or superhero fan. That said I don’t have anything against Knight Models nor do I have any particular love for Monolith
I have only ever purchased one set from knight models… and they were the WORST miniatures I have ever laid my hands on… one figures arms were literally surrounded in a giant block of pewter, with only small parts sticking out (it looked like a fossil!) another must have had the mold shift and was literally cut in half down the middle and offset buy almost 1mm… right through the head and everything. I really feel bad for your bad luck, of course If I had a similar experience I wouldn’t try to buy again, but, did you buy online? the models are perfectly visible in the blisters, they are transparent… why did you buy that horrible nightmare? If it was a mail order, you were really unlucky (you agree with me, since you mention that you were not able to change such an horrible product because it was discontinued. We waited two years for a new rulebook to be printed, however it was available digitally long before it was printed. The lack of an app is disappointing but I am not losing sleep over it – it’s not affecting my ability to play and enjoy the game. I didn’t back the game because it had an app. All the miniatures had rules, they just didn’t have any scenarios that used them although these have since started to appear on the website and were collated into a book in a second Kickstarter. Oh, and Mythic Games and Monolith are two entirely separate companies. Mythic Games and Monolith collaborated on Mythic Battles: Pantheon. These are all error of a new company. Monolith are learning from their mistakes and taking the feedback seriously. As long as it is serious feedback and not a complaint about the length of a miniatures hair.
The minis on Batman will have a different air to them than Mythic, because of origins…The comics.

@onlyonepinman if you didn’t mind to wait two years for a rulebook it diesn’t matter is fine, if you didn’t mind to lack the promised app, it doesn’t mean the rest of the backers were fine, if you didn’t play with the rest if the minis that had not scenarios to play them, is because you couldn’t, that’s why we suggested an squirmish version, becuase they weren’t going to give us the promised “at least one scenario per stretch goal mini”. @rickyard I didn’t wait two years for my updated rules. I played several games using the digital version of the updated rulebook. I also downloaded all the scenarios when they became available online. However I did back the Book of Set because I liked the idea of a printed and bound collection of scenarios – just my personal preference. The Kickstarter literally just provides the scenarios in a hardback book which is non essential and purely a luxury item. I decided that I would like to have that item even though I could get the scenarios for free.
That was a mistake. Making mini that had no scenarios…But the intent of the designer was that 1) players could create their own scenarios and 2) Monolith gave out 50 or so, pre-production copies of the game to people who were interested in creating scenarios that would be put up on the Monolith site. And that they have been doing. For your information, balancing a scenario take a lot of work. I have seen one scenario change 3 times in a year.
…And don’t worry about Batman. Every mini you get will be used in a scenario or 2 or 3. As you will have to choose which heroes to play. A second lesson learnt =)
to each his own, but saying that for example Monolith miniatures have more quality than KM is just… incredible. The heroes in Conan are far worse than the minions. Metal miniatures are difficult to work in all brands thats true. Monolith has a “toony” look that may suit a lot of people, just not for me. Have in hand the new poison ivy from KM and seriously beats monolith in every aspect. No mould lines. Havent got any issue with mould lines with KM models. You do have to think though that a “toony” look would be perfect for representing miniatures that are, well, toons
not necesarily, Batman today has got a lot of different aproaches, you can see videogame versions, ultrarealistic ones, or movie inspiration, or action figures, or even sideshow or kotobukiya sculpts… all these iconic images are great, while these minis are JUST cartoony.
And the Batman comic is a cartoon. So it’s all good.
KM have had issues with pricing and thankfully the switch to resin has knocked about a third off there. I’m a big fan of BMG and the KM sculpts but it was getting painful with the metal prices going up. I’m not sure why you would consider BMG to be a boardgame. Is Malifaux or Inifinity a boardgame? What’s the difference? Aesthetically Monoliths offerings aren’t doing it for me. i am a big fan of Knight models new resin minis and will no doubt get this in due course.
I’m look forward to playing a minis game with my daughter, who will no doubt, construct any arm of female characters? =)
Hold on did someone say PVC? Slowly backing away from this KS as I type this.
Have you seen Mythic Battles? PVC miniatures all made by Monolith. The Conan miniatures are mostly pretty good, a couple of the hero miniatures are a little disappointing. Blood Rage, Rising Sun and Journey: Wrath of Demons are all PVC; it’s not that bad a medium; it’s not a perfect but then again what is?
while I don’t like the style of these new minis, I must say the material can achieve great results. Of course it is not the same to have the resin minis from KM than Conan pvc ones, but there are some good models that really can be nice for the price…
PVC can archieve good results, far worse than good resin (not finecast) but good results. Just think you can get around 100 miniatures for the price of barely 8 KM miniatures. In the end you get what you pay for.
