1750

We had the pleasure of talking to Jason Huffman, of Battle Hardened Games while we were at Gen Con. I see that their Kickstarter, 1750: Britain vs. France, has launched and thought this was the perfect time to chat about it.

1750 political objectives

1750 is a 2-player card-based strategy game, using both dice and cards to fight for control of the board.  One player plays as Britain and the other plays as France, wielding forces to decide the outcome of this struggle. What we thought was really great about it was that it's content could appeal to the history based, war gamers, and yet the style of game could help reach an even larger audience- and by that, I mean you don't have to be a history major to appreciate the game. Dawn is not heavily involved with the historical side of gaming and thought the game was really interesting after watching how it played.

1750 exports

In this game, players will have to recruit generals and admirals from the 7 Years' War (French and Indian War) and the War of the Austrian Succession, and send other military forces to take colonies by force. Then players will engage in political efforts to persuade other world powers to enter the conflict on your side and bring their resources to the fight, all the while historically accurate colonies produce exports to add to your economy.

1750 objectives

Play will revolve around historic event cards at decisive moments to turn the tide of battle, destroying enemy units and influencing dice rolls, for your ultimate goal being to have more colonies than your opponent at the end of the game.

1750 game in progress

The artwork on the cards is absolutely beautiful and very true to the time period.
