Take A Peek At The Sprues For Gates Of Antares Plastic Concord

Warlord Games have shared some images of what the hard plastic sprues are going to look like for the Concord troopers in Beyond The Gates Of Antares and it's starter set known as The Xilos Horizon...
As you can see the sprue contains the five infantry that you need to bring together a squad as well as some additional options for making a commander figure within the unit. You also have the additional components for assembling a drone which all ends up looking like this...
The hard plastic soldiers are looking a lot better then the metal ones we'd seen early on in the games development. The options for posing are my concern, as I hope it easy, but for the most part the big draw of these is that you can work on customising them a lot more.
This was certainly a step in the right direction for Warlord with Gates Of Antares and it will be good to see how the game takes off with the release of the Starter Set.

I quite like the look of these guys but won’t know for sure how much till I get me its on a sprue.
I’m unsure about the game yet, it would be cool to see a review as I know nothing about the rules or Bolt Action (that its meant to be based on).
While I kinda like the Concord minis the Ghar feel a bit comedic and out of place.
Looking at these minis, I think I prefer the chunkier look of more heroic scale minis. Still, I will definitely keep an eye on these guys and future plastic releases.
Like the concord design, just cant stand the ministry of silly walks legs on that sprue :p
@lostegg BoW did a nice Bolt Action demo game a ways back. There are some differences but the basic structure is the same. You should be able to find it in the Bolt Action section.
The Antares beta rules have been out, for free, for quite a while. I think they may have removed the official download links in anticipation of the games retail launch but I am sure you can still find digital copies around.
Those look really good.

Not my cup of tea I guess… The whole project looks very weak in my opinion, speaking of miniatures. Only the “tatikoma”-styled faction looks fresh for me, I can hardly recall many non-humanoid factions in the tabletop wargames.
I can’t say anything about the ruleset as I haven’t tried it (yet?). Does it have anything revolutionary about it?
Given the fact that all six of the factions included with rules in the core rule book and supported by models at the moment (the Concord, Isorian Shard, Algoryn, Boromites, Freeborn Vardo and Ghar – all of whom already have models released apart from the Isorians) are specifically identified in the fluff as ‘Panhuman’ species – meaning evolved or engineered descendant species of humanity – it is not surprising that they are all broadly humanoid in their physiology. The lack of non-humanoid factions in wargaming is my biggest pet peeve and why I started sculpting and making my own game. When they do make NH factions they still usually have legs and are usually some boring, unimaginative bug/xenormorph derivative.
That said, in regards to this game specifically – all the factions are actually evolutions of humans, so at least unlike all the others it is actually justifiable and does actually make sense (which is actually more interesting imo). Hopefully when they do introduce an alien action they will actually look alien though.
The Warlord studio have an entire year’s worth of supporting releases already mastered for ‘Beyond the Gates of Antares’ – including plans for 6+ plastic kits in the next 12 months, heaps of metal support units, and resin releases for some of the larger creations which have been floating-around in Rick’s head…. The six core factions are outlined in the Core Rulebook, included in the Starter Set… with backstories and army lists included for all – and all will be supported with regular releases over the next 12 months and beyond! I have preordered my starter set for Antares, and I am particularly looking forward to the Plastic Concord Strike Troopers as the Concord is my faction of choice.
The model design has evolved nicely with the switch from metal to plastic for the Strike Troopers, and the broader Antares range includes some excellent models, with the Concord range alone including two very nice NuHu models, the rather awesome Drop Troopers, and forthcoming Interceptor hover bikes. This game will definitely by one to watch over the coming months.
I am excited about this game, but the miniatures have been a continual disappointment. These are so dull – nothing wrong with them but nothing right either!
I will wait and see, but expect to play the rules with other minis.
Actually, it’s the plastic miniatures that interest me most, particularly the Ghar. I would hope that additional HP sprues of Concord and Ghar will be available to buy separately, as it would be cost-prohibitive (and ridiculous) to try and make an army from multiple box sets.
Delighted to hear that Gates of Antares is moving to hard plastic at last, and very much looking forward to seeing the Algoryns in particular make the leap. Great designs on those.
