It looks like the classic board game, Snowdonia, is going to be getting itself a new edition and indeed a Deluxe run out via Kickstarter this Spring.
For those who don’t know what Snowdonia is all about…
“In Snowdonia players represent work gangs providing labour for the construction of the Snowdon Mountain Railway. Unlike other train games, you will have to excavate your way up a mountainside, as well as make and lay the track, construct viaducts and stations. All this in competition with the weather of the Welsh mountains (and the game itself)!
You may be assisted by a train (though that’s not always best) and you’ll be able to collect essential materials from the Stock Yard. You will obtain special work contracts that give you bonuses.
Can you contribute more than the other players to the magnificence of the Snowdon Mountain Railway?”
It might not sound like the most exciting game out there but it’s certainly a favourite with the board gaming crowd, and anything that lets me play around with trains has got to be a good thing right?
The new edition of the game seems to be coming to Kickstarter alongside all manner of expansions which will be added to the mix. You can hear from the designer himself in THIS thread as he talks about what he’d like to see come to light for the game.
If you’re looking for a traditional game to add to your collection this might be a good shout!
Have you played Snowdonia?
