We've received this teaser image of the upcoming sci-fi board game from Mantic... Project Pandora.

But what's that at the side of the page? Could it be a clue as to the identity of the 8th Race?

Since there’s werewolves in the KoW undead army, and we know there is already re-use of molds between KoW and Warpath, I would surmise that we will be seeing WEREWOLVES IN SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE!!!

Yeah, we know that @quirkworthy has been talking about rules for werewolves in DKH, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see them make an appearance. Would be cool to see the same army used in KoW and Warpath…. Either way, absolutely love a good game of DKH and am looking forward to seeing BoW cover this. Besides, I think the humans would make great Van Saar’s for Necromunda…

True. However I was not referring to any other company such as GW and their originality. Just the general apathy towards gaming and race design in general these days.

Unfortunately when people do odd aliens such as the lovely Quar and Hydrassians, the market fails to reward them. People say they want new, but then don’t support people who provide it.

@ jaerin – if it was space skaven or wolfen, why would you be unimpressed? There aren’t many other companies making either of them. Certainly GW doesn’t.

While the prospect of the new miniatures is awesome, and the reveal of another race…I am pretty stoked for the tiles and how it all works too. Mantic have had some superb tile art in the past which has really bought the game to life, so will be interesting to see what stories they can tell in this game.

It’ll also be interesting to see how the tiles change with whoever their new designer is (unless that’s for a future set) since Tears of Envy is no more. Keeping the old style and quality but putting a personal touch to the art will be a challenge.

I hope for not to much colour variance as the DKH set was lovely but not as cohesive as I would like- also when i read no more I always think th eworst rather than that the artist has been locked into a GW vault somewhere

I would really enjoy the idea of werewolves in space (which is why I like the Shistavanens from Star Wars). However, to speculate, maybe they aren’t the eighth race we’ve been looking for. I mean maybe their some oversized space pest that isn’t interested in world domination but its next meal, such as a power cord or a tasty marine. Either way, I’d be happy with the results.

Well, Mantic did give us the “squats” – boy does that sound dubious – I suppose it shouldn’t be too shocking if they give us the Hrud too.

are we not over this? Yes mantic brought us dwarves in space, because we know games workshop invented not only dwarves, but space as well! so mantic come along and make a model that resembles a model that hasnt been updated for over 20 years, or supported or legal in 40K for nearly 15 years

Is that why no-one talks about the 8th race, because they’re mutant space Werewolves and everyone is a bit embarrassed at how those genes got into circulation?
Not long till the reveal then, excellent. I’ll almost certainly be picking this up and then spend next 3months trying to resist the urge to start a corporation army. Look at the new shiny shiny….

The 8th race will be called Veermyn (at least that’s what rumours say) and it’s most likely that they will be Space Skaven as this would fill another gap in GW’s range for 40k (the Hrud)

I would really like werewolves, but they are highly unlikely, imho.
