Building on Civilization, the board game from Fantasy Flight Games, we now have Civilization: A New Dawn which condenses the 4X style gameplay down into a playable session on the tabletop for fans of this expansive game series.

Civilization - A New Dawn

Both of their games are going to be supported going forward but New Dawn has an interesting twist with the addition of victory cards which specify particular agendas that you need to fulfil in order to win the game.

Civilization - A New Dawn (Set Up)

This means that each game is slightly different, regardless of which faction and leader you choose, and you'll be encouraged to pursue different victory conditions each time rather than simply relying on your own whims as to how you should approach the end game.

Civilization - A New Dawn (Factions)

Whilst each of you could focus on world domination and military power in order to win you have to consider those agendas you must pursue as each of them might twist you in a different direction.

Technology and the way that develops in the game has also been tweaked to make it easier to get into and the way Wonders work is fascinating where they wake and wane in power depending on the period - plus, they are not tied to a particular player and you might end up losing it to another player if you're not careful.

Will you be picking this up?
