We're now closing in on the Christmas period and we can't wait to see what you folks have been to once we're back from the holidays. However, there is still time to fit in one more Community Spotlight for 2017 looking at your work in the Hobby & Painting Forum.

Come and take a look at what we've found this week...

Bushido Shrine by darkvoivod

Leading the way we have some scratchbuilt terrain from darkvoivod with this awesome looking Shrine for the world of Bushido that you might know by GCT Studios.

Bushido Shrine #1 by darkvoivod

Designed to fit in with his 2x2 Zen Garden board that is being worked on for the game I think this looks awesome. The little touches like the additional rope wrapped around the bamboo structures look authentic. However, the building hasn't just been detailed on the exterior as it has an interior too!

Bushido Shrine #2 by darkvoivod

There is an actual little shrine in there allowing the characters to defend or desecrate it at their will. An awesome touch to have those hanging scrolls on either side with some Oriental script too.

Bushido Shrine #3 by darkvoivod

Scratchbuilt terrain is awesome to see as it really is the foundation of our hobby when it comes to terrain making. Before we had 3D printers and plastic terrain, nevermind the HDF/MDF stuff we see now, people were making their terrain out of what they could find at home.

With that in mind, it's great to see people continuing to design terrain by themselves. Hopefully, we'll find out a bit more about the materials used in the process of building this soon too.

Ciri by krautwerk

Based on the world of The Witcher by Andrzej Sapkowski we have this next piece which was painted up by krautwerk in the forums as a present for a fellow Witcher fan and friend. See what you make of Ciri from the latest of the Witcher games.

Ciri #1 by krautwerk

Sculpted by Scale75 this is one of the 35mm models from their collection and I think that krautwerk has done an awesome job on the model, bringing to life her moxy and tough attitude and really framing the model nicely with that basing choice as well.

Ciri #2 by krautwerk

The work on the model is superb and really highlights some nice attention to detail on her facial features and her outfit. The object source lighting around the base as well with that ethereal blue glow really does pop and give the model a bit more of a Fantastical edge to it.

Lady Vendetta by georgesealy

Last but not least we have Lady Vendetta who was painted by georgesealy here for the Scylla in Wolsung. See what you think...

Lady Vendetta by georgesealy

A good use of subtle colours here makes her stand out from other models on the tabletop with the use of blue, purple and white but then she has been toned down slightly as well to make her fit in with the Steampunk world that she inhabits.

The highlighting and shading work on the tentacles is one of my favourite bits of this model although I do also like they way he's done her grey hair too. She looks like an old granny who wouldn't hurt a fly...but underneath there is a steely resolve to get things done to protect her families assets.
