Mierce Miniatures have a new range of heroes, villains, monsters and more for the world of Darklands. We’ll kick things off with the burliest additions to the range…
Bear Men & Craven Fiends
My favourite model is very much Caena because I love the idea of skin-changers and it’s nice to see someone that isn’t just going to be turning into a werewolf. Seza is also quite the fascinating miniature and while at first you think she’s quite awkwardly posed soon you notice the third leg and it all makes sense!
I might have to grab Caena just to have him in my collection. I have no idea when I’d get round to painting him and indeed how I’d even go about not ruining the model but it would be a task I’d be interested in for sure.
Riding To Battle
As well as the huge models above there are some equally powerful looking riders too. Urien and Knutr are both looking great atop massive chargers and I love the flowing cloak of the aforementioned Knutr…
Both, once again, are incredibly well sculpted and come packed with detail. The amount of work that’s gone into the fur, leather and indeed beard of Knutr is fascinating and even though I hate painting horses I could lay that feeling aside just to give this one a go. The axe even has some nice runic detail on the head if you look closely.
Come & Get It!
I quite like the more simplistic look to Mananaan. When I say simplistic I mean that by comparison his armour isn’t as overly exotic as you might imagine for a warrior who appears to have pledged himself to some dark power or another.
Sathach is also a great sculpt and I love her two swords. I’d be tempted to paint them up in duel magical colours even if that isn’t how it’s meant to be. Her outfit is incredibly well detailed right down to the stitching and her hair would be fantastic to have a go at painting.
Trusssst In Me…
Last but not least we have the mighty Thoth who would put Wrath-Amon from Conan: The Adventurer to shame with the amount of snake-ness he has going on. Check him out…
I’m not really a fan of this aspect of Darklands and these kind of factions aren’t really up my alley. I much prefer to look at the more Northern European and Celtic models compared to these from the rest of ‘Europe’. Saying that it doesn’t mean that the sculpt is any worse as the amount of work that’s gone into the scales will testify.
What will you be picking up?
