Steamforged Games has added some new pre-orders to their webstore for fans of Dark Souls: The Board Game. A whole bunch of new expansions are on the way to drive you deeper into madness as you struggle against these dangerous foes.

Darkroot Expansion - Dark Souls - Steamforged Games

"The Darkroot is a lush but foreboding region of Dark Souls™. Scarecrows, giant stone warriors, and the very plants of the forest stand sentinel to hinder any heroes foolish enough to brave this realm. Darkroot is the final resting place of Artorias, a deadly revenant and relentless swordsman who is guarded eternally by his companion, the Great Grey Wolf Sif."

I think this is my favourite of the expansions. The Darkroot Expansion adds in two of my favourite characters from the Dark Souls games with Artorias and Sif. The moments with these characters in the game are dangerous of course but they are tinged with sadness too.

Bloody Dragons!

I don't think quite the same amount of sadness is present when you're fighting against the likes of the Black Dragon Kalameet Expansion.

Black Dragon Kalameet Expansion - Dark Souls - Steamforged Games

"As you adventure through the Royal Wood do not allow the scenery to distract you, for in the world of Dark Souls™ death always awaits. Black Dragon Kalameet is a fierce embodiment of that fate, as dark in colour and nature as its name suggests, with the chaos gem glowing balefully between its eyes. Do you have the courage and skill to overcome the black dragon and its malevolent Mark of Calamity?"

And if that fellow wasn't scary enough there's also the Gaping Dragon Expansion as well which turns the creepy factor up to eleven.

"Your fate has led you to the winding corridors of the flooded and labyrinthine Depths, distant from the light of the sun. Here you find the Gaping Dragon, an abomination hideously transformed by its ravenous hunger. Can you defeat this vile creature and escape its vicious maw, or will you fall to the endless voracity that lies ahead?"

All of these expansions work with the base game and come with all of the cards that you need to create new encounters for your heroes to face.

Vordt & The Asylum Demon

If you played just a small amount of Dark Souls you will have run into the Asylum Demon.

Asylum Demon Expansion - Dark Souls - Steamforged Games

"As you pace the halls and corridors of the Undead Asylum it can be found to be a lonely and quiet place, moribund and uninviting. Here dwells a demon capable of lethal rage, its mind still ruled by virulent thoughts. Beware this foe. For all that you will fight stronger, more cunning, and agiler opponents, complacency will hasten your end at its hands all the same.

Can you triumph over the Asylum Demon, or will your corpse soon be another to roam the Asylum with the hollowed?"

He is typically one of the first bosses that you will face in Dark Souls and is no less challenging for his early appearance. Another hulking beast also awaits; Vordt Of the Boreal Valley sits, ready to strike at you in the game too.

Vordt Of the Boreal Valley - Dark Souls - Steamforged Games

"As you journey through Lothric safe passage is rarely to be found, and the route to the Undead Settlement is no different. The vile watchdog of the Boreal Valley, Vordt is tasked with standing sentinel over the gates that lead from the Undead Settlement to the Castle of Lothric.

Vordt exists now only as a savage and mindless beast, his mind long since riven into madness by endless visions of bloodshed and carnage. Will you slay the beast, or is this where your adventures through Lothric end?"

Plenty of savage new additions to the Dark Souls roster for you to check out. With that in mind, we'd love to hear how you've got on with the core game and which one of these expansions you're going to pick up.
