There are some nice options in this kit.
Not bad. I’m interested in the German guys we have seen art of. Seems weird they have American, though it sounds like All of the Americas, Germans, and Bugs. Nothing else?
The UAMC consists of America and Mexico in the fluff. There will be all the major forces you’d expect – Germans, Commonwealth (Brits, Ausies etc.), China are the first sets. Then there will be what they’re calling edge forces, basically nice little units that won’t initially have as big a range but could expand if they prove popular. Including Vatican armed forces! Check out their website, there’s lots of info there.
That would be “Starship Troopers” Darrell, either that or “Aliens”.
These are fantastic miniatures at a very good value pricetag.
I look forward to seeing how the Germans and also the power armours are going to look when produced.
Alien wars seems like a nice rulesset to me…
Perhaps mix it with some corporation models ?
I bought a box of these on launch and I think they’re pretty good. Good altenatives to Imperial Guard, Urban War Viridians, certain Infinity factions (namely Adriana) or Starship Troopers. These guys were inspired quite a lot by the colonial marines from the movie “Aliens” which isn’t bad thing. There are things Defiance Games could have made better, like more pounces for the models, more arm options, loose weapons and more weapon variety. But as a first set it’s quite good. As I understand it, Defiance Games is switching to akin resin plastic used by Mantic for their future releases… Read more »
It isn’t resin-plastic they are changing too, just a different sort of plastic – but it is a very good plastic that is tougher and more resilient. It is Trollcast, I believe (correct me if wrong people).
Thanks for clearing that up 🙂
Sounds like an interesting game. I’m hoping that it includes possibilities like running out of ammo as I don’t like how most games, or at least many of them just assume that you have an endless amount of ammo.
The now discontinued Starship Troopers miniatures game had an out ammo status as a core mechanic which added a level of tension to the game when there was horde of bugs closing in to your MI’s position. Nice set of rules which still can be downloaded in PDF format from DrivethruRPG for less than 15€. In many ways Alien War feels like a spiritual successor to Mongoose’s SST legacy.

I am not particularly interested in the starship troopers derivative thing going (just personal taste) on but objectively they are an excellent deal for a very fair price, and they don’t look bad at all either.
Personally I’d like to wish Defiance good luck with their game and hope it does well.
Hi abstractalien – I think we probably are causing a little confusion with the Bug release in that the Bugs are part of the Alien War universe and are a Force in the game – but the real focus of Alien War is actually ground combat between the human nations, corporations, and mercenary groups of 2260. Think of a future version of 19th century colonialism. And of course we’ll have some aliens entering the fray over the next few months!
wow they look great! I hope the rules for alien wars are cool too.
did you download the pdf?
Shame he’s not read the box description beforehand. 24 minis (so still not bad) and each sprue has two bodies + a choice of three legs…
Bodies look fine but not totally sold on the heads…or rather the helmets
Not that bad and good enough for me to take a closer look
Woot! Now I can model Guardsmen with autoguns. No more flashlights for me. Though I can’t wait for the bugs to come out.
these figures are awesome! i already have some, i plan to get more and i really like them and can’t wait to play a game of alien war!
