If, like me, you've been keeping tabs on the progress of Neverwinter then you will be pleased to know it is slowly moving into closed beta. With this knowledge in hand Youtuber TotalBiscuit got to play with some of the developers and you can see almost an hour worth of gameplay above...
Check out his channel and the video above. It's well worth a watch and it appears to really draw on the mechanics and feel of 4th Edition Dungeons & Dragons. This could be a pretty fun MMORPG, and it's Free to Play!

Will it be free to play or subs based? I ask as I bought into star wars and then that fell to bits 🙁 I liked the game, but if there is no community…. well Blizzard can only be so entertaining. If it is subs based, I think I will wait to see the community grow first.

watched the video, but must of missed that bi, sorry. I hope micro transactions does not mean buying gold 🙁 I could live with advertising in game though, maybe a few coke machines in the middle of the dungeons and all that. 😛 hehe
Generally, yes, that’s how it works. So in Neverwinter you will most likely loot Gold, which can be used to buy items.. but there will also be a parallel currency (perhaps like the crystals that were mentioned in the video) which can be used to purchase exclusive items, or regular items at a more favorable rate (e.g. a sword is 150 gold or 2 crystals).
Usually it’s the parallel currency that you can buy through micro transactions.
Ahh I get it. Thanks for the feedback @siygess. I have only played WoW, Lotro and SWtoR and I hated it in the games where people bought gold for IRL money as it ruined the economy. If these crystals were not OP then I think it could work. Perhaps have none xtal guilds or none xtal servers to 🙂 Maybe the latter is asking a bit much, hehe I will await it release in much anticipation, looks good so far…No gnomes!!! 🙂 but no Ogres either 🙁 I want an Ogre Tank or a fairy Healer
For a free game this looks like loads of fun.
