The guys had a chance to chat to Wyrd Miniatures over at Gen Con in the states and here’s what they had to say (I LOVE their minis by the way).
Just ordered my rulebook today and have the Lady Justice boxed set on my painting table. Really looking forward to delving into the world of Malifaux
Dem Gobbies! Really a nice well rounded company with plenty of goodies for everyones tastes.
I am thinking of trying this game out. Can anyone how plays, give me their thoughts on the play style and mechanics of the game?
I think Malifaux is an easy to learn, hard to master game. You use cards instead of dice, you have a hand of cards and a pool of soul stones you can use to “cheat fate” in most situations. Usually only the master can use soul stones. The game is played on a random board, with random conditions, where you try to accomplish a random individual or shared strategy which is you objective. If you follow the strict rules then a game would roll out like this: declare factions, flip for the encounter, battlefield and strategy, build your force, pick your schemes, play. Building your force AFTER knowing your opponents faction and the game strategy is huge. Schemes are similar to strategies; they are minor objectives, worth less points, but can be selected to be a perfect fit for the crew you have assembled.
Tabling your opponent rarely wins any games. You can win the game if you are tabled by by completing the strategies and schemes. It really os a whole new way to play for me. You should check it out.
i love this company some off the best looking female minis in the world, i had to buy some just cause they are so awesome….
I think Mike is the most cheerfull bloke on the planet
Gorgeous looking minatures
I wish I was as cheerful as I look in the video. It is just the Gen Con high I was on at the time. You go there smiling and leave broke I grabbed bunch of Malifaux stuff there (McMourning and Nicodem box sets). The miniatures are simply awesome. Very unique and the dark setting is original and well thought out. Just need to assemble, paint and play now!
Damn these further temptations to part with my money!
