Andy get’s a chat with Heresy Miniatures about there new Dragon and Goblins, but what do you guys think of them?
The Dragon is one of the best monsters imho Super duper and love the goblins, Just need to win the lottery/rob a bank/find a Sugar Mommy/Daddy
that is possibly starting to sound desperate… lol
The Dragon and Goblins are brilliant…as are all of Andy’s sculpts…..and…why are you dressed up as Wild West rejects?
The theme of Salute 2011 was the American Civil War. There were reinactors there and we didn’t want to dress like them, so we dressed as cowboys… and a Mexican!
We like having fun at these events and dressing up is all part of that.
WOW! That is a Dragon. Something as iconic as a Dragon really deserves a sculpt as impressive as this. Obviously a real labour of love for the sculptur. The Goblins are magnifcant also
All monsters from Heresy are quite nice IMHO… And the dragon sure looked great at Salute ! It does the job better than most I’ve seen, and the pose if excellent ! At least, it approaches the true size a young dragon should be in an RPG, in my opinion… (I’m still a fan of the old AD&D second edition dragons, and they could be a mile long from head to tail, or more… They’ve been consistently reducing the sizes in subsequent editions to be able to manage fighting with miniatures. Poppycock, I say ! I like my dragons city-sized, and that’s that !).
Andy from Heresy has always sculpted fantastic monsters and this Dragon is without doubt his Magnum opus.
Already paid my £200 for one of these beauties.
Well worth the money for something as large and impressive as this.
For those that don’t know about it, Andy also hosts the Forum of Doom ( also known as the FoD ). Which is the official forums for the FoD4 ( Heresy, Hasslefree, Black Scorpion and Eolith/Spyglass. )
It’s a great place full of great people.
hasslefree was a rip off at salute, half the models i bought for friends turned out to be around 20% more expensive then on their website.
I agree… if you feel hard done by, contact Hasslefree. I’ve never had a problem with anything I’ve ordered or bought from them.
I’m sure they’ll be happy to chat about it.
You are a lucky boy Tasker! *envy* Have you started assembly and any pics please?
Sorry, but I find that really hard to believe as they pride themselves on top notch service and low pricing.
Are you sure you didn’t buy any pre-release “Masters” as they are the only figures that I can think of that are about 20% more expensive.
I’ve been buying off of Hasslefree for years and you’re the first and only person that i’ve ever come across that has had a bad word to say about them. But if you aren’t just trolling and have a genuine complaint. Go to the forums and mention it. They’ll always give you a truthfull answer.
Bugger, just realised that I replied to the thread as a whole rather than to cwilliams.
If my above post ends up seemingly way out of context, it should go before Andy’s ( Beerogre ) post.
I was told they had been miss priced, since the ones i bought did not have a sticker on them, i guess the person i was dealing with got confused with all the attention they were getting.
If i was trolling i would be saying many bad things
… And the moral of the story is… Always check with the company first.
My trolling comment was just a throw away remark. Didn’t even realise i’d typed it untill you mentioned it. lol
I knew there would be an explanation for it as i’ve never known them to rip anyone off. Which is why I mentioned asking them on the forum.
If anything i’d say that because of how nice they are they have a tendency towards ripping themselves off.
i have some of their stuff in my collection, but the price of that dragon is just inrealistic. it makes GW staff look affordable! id rather buy gold by the Oz then spend that kind of cash on a resin dragon.
Someone better informed than I maybe able to clarify or refute, but I assume that not a great deal of these dragons will be made and sold, so there is a lot of labour and mould costs that need covering with fewer units than GW can knock out en masse in plastic.
Not sure of the exact size but he is looking about 120mm to the shoulders from the plastic base.
You do realise just how big the dragon actually is don’t you?
Check the pics on the Heresy site and you’ll see that it’s far bigger than anything GW have ever produced.
Andy from Heresy originally had the dragon priced at £100 but after talking to the caster once it was finished, ( about the size and amount of molds needed and quantity of resin ) he relised that even putting the price up to £200 he wasn’t going to make much profit on it.
Also, you’d be surprised at how many people have preordered it and just how long the waiting list is.
It may not be worth it for you and theres nothing wrong with that, not everyone can spare the money. But for others such as myself It’s well worth the asking price.
Also, ( and damn the lack of an edit function. )
Just for completeness sake…
it’s about 290 mm from the bottom of the rocks to the top of the wings and it has a wingspan of roughly 400 mm
It’s just as big and almost as expensive as the Forgeworld resin Chaos Dragon… It’s no crapy plastics ! Comparing what’s comparable, I’d say that’s a GREAT deal for a resin dragon that’s so well sculpted (better than the Forgeworld Fire Dragon, IMHO) from a smaller company that will probably make less profit than Forgeworld per casting.
