More Armoured Avanti Awaits From Battlefront This Month

March 19, 2018 by brennon

Battlefront has more Italian reinforcements for you as we run into the tail end of March. Flames Of War in the desert has become quite packed with new plastic and resin releases for this new edition and there's plenty more on the way.

M14-41 or Semovente Platoon - Battlefront

First up we have the M14/41 or Semovente Platoon which worked very well against enemy infantry. These vehicles could lay down some devastating machine gun fire or switch up to high-explosive rounds when they had to deal with enemy emplacements.

When it came to the Semovente you have access to a bigger gun still, sans turret, of course, turning it into a rolling gun platform.

Next up we have the 90mm on Lancia Battery. Both used as a means of stopping aircraft and armour incursions these might not have been as mobile as traditional mounted guns but they were very effective.

The guns would be mounted onto the back of these trucks and then given additional stabilisers to ensure that things didn't go boom when they were firing!

Armoured Cars & Light Tanks

As we turn our attention back to armoured additions to these forces we have the AB41 Armoured Car Platoon.

This car was very fast on hard surfaces, and while it could get bogged down in difficult terrain they were still very fast and could be relied upon for quick and agile reconnaissance gathering.

Another of the light vehicles for the Italians is the L6/40 Light Tank Platoon here.

Designed as an infantry support tank it was well armoured for a vehicle of its size. It had the rather distinct disadvantage though of having it so that the driver had to also load and fire the gun. That does not lend itself to quick thinking on the battlefield, but it's another new option for spicing things up.

What do you think of the new releases?
