Battlefront keep on the pressure with new armour and armour-killers coming to World War II and Flames of War. Kicking things off we have the brand spanking new Comet Platoon in plastic followed by some soldiers eager to hunt them down…
This was a tried and tested Tank during the war and certainly earned its stripes in many campaigns. Interestingly these tanks were the kind of vehicles that got tweaked and changed as time went on – making them fit into whatever combat role they needed to fulfill. Being speedy tanks they were used to try and run rings around the Panther tanks of the Germans so they could get a shot at the rear armour.
It speaks to the success of the tank that it would also go on to fight for the British in Korea onwards into 1958.
Support Your Tanks
Slightly less impressive is the little Humber Scout Car that was used to scout ahead of the main armoured column.
These would be a perfect accompaniment to the Comets you’ve seen above. A neat little vehicle although I’d be tempted to make sure the top of the Scout Car was hunkered down for a bit of safety!
Ambushed By Tank Hunters!
Last but not least if you are collecting Germans then you’ll want something to take care of the new armour rolling out for the British.
Meet the SS-Waffen and Grenadier Tank Hunter Teams that will be hiding in the bushes ready to ambush your rolling column as it powers through the countryside. I can imagine attacks like this would be a constant worry for advancing armour, especially in urban environments.
Will you be picking up the Comets?
