Battlefront have given us a look ahead to what’s coming for Flames of War in 2016. We’re starting things with a look at the new Tanks skirmish game which will allow you to pit big armoured vehicles against each other with simple and easy to learn mechanics…
The Starter Set will include one Panther and two Shermans but additional expansions will include one tank plus the cards for the crew and upgrades. Essentially think of this as being X-Wing for World War II tanks with packs bringing new tanks for the British, Soviets, Germans and US.
Could we see John giving up his World of Tanks addiction and actually coming to the tabletop to play out those digital fantasies in cold hard plastic? I think this is a great step in the right direction for Battlefront and it certainly sounds like it could be a simple way to get stuck into World War II.
Flames of War also welcomes a couple of new sourcebooks in 2016. Gung-Ho will focus on the Americans in the Pacific whilst Banzai will cover the Japanese. Island hopping is a piece of World War II we don’t usually see covered so we look forward to what they’re doing on that front.
The Battlefield In A Box range will also be expanding with new pieces and old favourites returning to the fold. These seem like some very staple buildings which could provide for some interesting set pieces on the battlefield. Pre-made and painted terrain always gets a thumbs up from us.
Don’t forget about Team Yankee either as two more nations will be joining the fighting this year.
What are you looking forward to most from Battlefront?
