Fantasy Flight Games have announced that the first pack in the next cycle for A Game of Thrones: The Card Game 2nd Edition is coming towards the end of July. Across The Seven Kingdoms marks an interesting shift towards new cards and new ways of playing in Westeros and beyond…
So, what kind of cards are we going to be getting in this set. Well, Fantasy Flight Games have shown off a nice selection of what’s on the cards.
First up we have this nice spread with Janos Slynt feeding into the need for Lannister players to carry around a lot of gold on their person. Having Intimidate and the ability to raise his strength by two when needed means you can get him into challenges where you can start kneeling characters they didn’t expect. With him alongside Tyrion for example you’d have a potent combination.
Captain’s Daughter is also helpful for screwing with your opponent and forcing them to be somewhat waylaid – giving you that extra boost in tempo.
Bitterbridge Encampment is a great card that feeds into us seeing more Summer plots and this focus on the King of Summer/Winter. This, while seemingly dangerous as well as helpful, could make the difference between being able to recover from Wildfires and First Snows and not.
Sheirak Qiya could also be helpful for those Power Challenges you’re going to be running which could help set you up for future events. Being Non-Loyal this could slip into a Baratheon Deck so you could stand a big heavy hitter for another round of brutality.
Lastly from the previews we also got to see The White Raven for the Baratheons.
This very much plays into the need for the Baratheons to not only win their Power Challenges but also establish Dominance (bring on the Iron Throne). This trickle effect of Power could be key to getting you over the line to victory. This could also work within a Night’s Watch deck.
What do you think of the new cards?
