Grey Knights

Public Group active 1 week, 6 days ago

The Grey Knights are the most mysterious of all the Imperium’s many organisations. Few outside the upper echelons of the Inquisition hold any knowledge of the Chapter’s founding, and even these most trusted of men are denied the full truth. For ten thousand years the Grey Knights have stood between the Imperium and the Daemons of the Warp. An incorruptible army of genetically engineered warriors, they are armed and armoured with the finest wargear Mankind can supply, for no others in the Emperor’s service have so dire a task as they.

what DO you think!? (24 posts)

ok ok its a long (fang) shot but listen me out.
    Hq: grand master
troop: 2x strike, swords, hammer, flames and psycannon
    fast: intercerptor, stormtoaster
ally: rune priest, long fangs with missiles and maybe a lascannon (6) and grey hunters with the max amount of meltas (5), may aswell put em in a razoback

loadouts …havent really thought about it but i want comments.
    so how about it ???

    Edit. made som upgrades

you can only have 1 hq 2 troops and 1 of everything else as allies. So if you want to do something like this you need to take Wolves as primary and GK as allies and drop the interceptor or stormtalon (assuming im reading that right)

  • Avatar Image blight1134p said 11 months, 1 week ago:

    I’m confused how you’re reading that but I see;
GK: 1 HQ, 2 troops, 2 FA (interceptor squad and stormraven)
Wolves: 1HQ (allowed 2 really because of SW special rules), 1 HS, and 1Troop.
    He’s not violating anything.
Also he’s still allowed his full FOC along with allies so 2 HQ for GK.
As a list it isn’t bad with decent firepower and maneuverability. I like a runepriest for psychic defense.

when i saw long fngsX6 i had thought he wanted 6 squads of long fangs, especially since the next entry says grey hunters (5)

Hm, so you are allying with wolves just to spam long range shooty guys. I’m glad GK’s didn’t get battle brothers.

must admit i am glad to see that I wasn’t the only one to think of this. I always loved the look of GK and I always wanted to run a terminator list.

What I have been thinking is making the models look like grey knights as an army as a whole but fitting the ally set like this…

HQ – Logan (Grey Knight Model with similar loadout)
TROOP – Wolf Guard (Grey Knight Terminator Models with Storm Shield loadout)
HEAVY SUPPORT – 3 x Long Fangs unit in GK Power Armour with razorback or Aegis lines

    HQ – Draigo
    TROOP – Paladins

Should give some solid troop units, maybe drop in a terminator priest also as a GK libby model.

What sort of things are people thinking about doing this?

“It was silent as the void, and to look upon it was to know terror. It drifted above us with slow, liquid grace, and its gaze caused madness and despair wherever it fell. those it came near took their own lives rather than endure its hellish presence.”

Yes im allying with wolves (converted minis ofc, death korps perhaps), i dont like it but i like thier skyfire option on missile launchers ^^. The liat need fine tuning but it will be majority in the gks favor. else it would be outright heresy ^^

It sounds loads and loads of fun Nr32, would love to see the conversions on that and think twice before going toe yo toe with it ^^, atleas t whit the load out at my current list….i may yet to take som termies to my list to even out the scores. that reminds me….i think i would need to check the points value fo it.

ps. thanks for keeoing the thread alive guys.

yeah i have found there are some nice storm shields that could be quite fun to use think it was hitechminiatures they were on. The only bit that puts me off is losing some of the character on some of the models.

I absolutely love Logan and Njal as characters and models. Arjac is good fun but with him possibly challenging himself to death for his points i am a bt reluctant.

that being said i absolutely love all of the detail on the grey knight armour.

Now I am thinking of how to get a grey knight looking Njal and Logan, going to have to have a good look at the models in store and see what ideas i can come up with.

Oh hey, I noticed you made reference to the new missile launcher entry when you were talking about the long fangs having a skyfire option. The problem is that they don’t get it. No missle launcher in any army has it. In the main rulebook it says that the flak option would appear as an upgrade to be purchased in your codex, and as no codex had that FAQ’d into it no army can currently fire flak missiles. I expect codexs to come will have this option but for now Long Fangs must aim a little lower unless they’re near a skyfire objective.

orly Oo, damn. Well back to the drawing board. Thanks for the notice blight.

  • Avatar Image chadeptus117p said 11 months ago:

The way ‘Flakk’ is spelt almost makes it sound like a Ork weapon lol

  • Avatar Image redemption294p said 11 months ago:

A twin-linked autocannon with psybolts is statistically better at taking down flyers than flakk missiles anyway, even if forced to snapfire.

  • Avatar Image chadeptus117p said 11 months ago:

    How?

  • Avatar Image redemption294p said 11 months ago:

    Assuming BS4:
Skyfire missile = ~0.67 hits on average, S7
TL assault cannon snapfiring = ~0.61 hits on average, S8 with psybolts

So you have a slightly lower chance to hit which is more than made up for by the bigger chance to cause a glancing or penetrating hit and the potential to get a second hit in.

The only exception are flying monstrous creatures that are T5 like a Tyranid Harpy, in which the Skyfire missile slightly edges out as the extra point of Strength of the psybolts is wasted.
