If you’re just starting Dark Age then this is a good place to ask some questions.

im having difficulty choosing a faction i love the brood but i love the outcast and dont know what to pick

If you like big nasty critters that just want to get up close and personal then the Brood would be right up your alley. All of the Brood have the Regenerate ability, which gives them the chance to come back from the dead.

The Outcasts may not have as many troop choices as the other factions but what they do have are pretty powerful. They are Anarchist Atheists, scavengers of the wastelands, not really wanting to be bothered by the Forsaken.

Is the game any good. Rules look good. How long to have a 500 pont game.

    Thanks

    Cheers

Where can you get the minis – never seen them in a UK store …

  • Avatar Image bruiser8p said 5 months, 3 weeks ago:

    Maelstrom online web store

Well I have placed my order in for two starter sets based purely on the mini’s with Maelstrom games who seem to be the only place supporting this game. This is despite the great reviews of the minis on Beasts of War. There is little doubt the minis are expensive but you only need key figures and not multiples of £10 figures to play.

Will be busy digesting the rules this weekend. At least the download versions anyway. Maybe the reason this forum is quiet is it seems to be hidden?

hey there. i just got started with this game a while back when Outcasts came out. The Outcasts are pretty sweet to run in the starter since they have an equal mix of Anti-action points abilities that make up for their lack of individual power. As well as Wasteland Warrior that come in the box which can have the chance to force an enemy to take up to 3 armor saves.

You also get the Brute, slow, but brutal when it gets its gang bonus, on another plus side, the Brute has the ability to make it more difficult to hit with range attacks since his concrete blok acts as cover, even out in the open.

i wish i could say the same about brood, though i will end up picking up their starter since they look pretty awesome and are fast as all get out.

so far im enjoying the game since the tag line of Dark Age lives up to it. a friend and i are slowly building from the starters, but we enjoy it since it is fast, and you dont need much to get 500 pts going.

usually the game with starters lasts within the confines of 30min-40min depending if you feel comfortable with the AP counting. ill be honest, when i first played the game i thought…poo…AP tracking is a bit of a hassle, but you quickly start to understand how to short cut and quick count. the rest is cake, plus the special and weapon abilities make the game unique and balanced.

for a 500 pt game. i have noticed all i needed to do was just buy TWO more minis from the starter i have for my Outcasts. i was surprised as well that my friends Skarrd just needed to add three to two minis as well. Dark Age is keeping it simple, which is a nice change from the other juggernaut companies that seem to try to add more when it is not necessary.

if you get into the game, have fun! the destruction you get into!
