Has anyone played Aerna at all? I’ve been going back and forth over the decision to buy it or not. The game has such a cool premise with the arena combat, and being a fan of the show when I was younger it has huge appeal… but I am also just about to plunge into Blitz as well… so the question is;

How good is the game? I’ve seen multiple videos of blitz including the ones on BoW but nothing really about Arena.

Also can the Arena minis be used in Blitz?

Heavy Gear Arena and the Blitz rules do differ, but mainly as mentioned due to the way you can configure your gears and the number of models you field.

The Heavy Gear range is enticing no matter what you decide to play and the general starter rules can get you playing in no time for Heavy Gear Blitz!. The basics have a fairly shallow learning curve although once you get into the standard/advanced rules there is a little more involved to get your head around.

With Heavy Gear Arena the biggest problem is figuring out what the basics ARE! Information overload is the real problem. The rules for Arena don’t really have a “beginner” section and it can be difficult to sort out what the basic concepts are. Arena is more complex due to the ‘gear customization, number of combat maneuvers, and the in depth campaign and tournament play compared to HG Blitz!

That said, this can also make it more fun in the long run too.

Certainly some BoW vids looking at the two different styles of game play would be fantastic.
