    Hi everybody.

Could someone please help me? After converting from GW’s systems to warmachine, I’ve just invested in the Hordes rule book aswell.

I’ve just been reading about channeling and was wondering, how do you know who/wot is able to channel? In warmachine you have the arc node symbol, but I cant seem to find anything like the hordes version of the arc node or anything in the back of the book on any of the warbeasts saying that you can channel thru them.

I will be greatful of any help :-)

Hordes warbeasts do not have an arc node equivalent.
Usually you will look for models with the Channeler rule, but there are a few other effects that allow for spells to be channeled such as pHexeris’ spell, eHexeris’ bond, or pVayl’s ranged attack. Hordes factions do have the market cornered on channeling solos though, with circle’s gallows groves and everblight’s spell martyrs.

Check out my painting log if you have the time.

Additionally, there are some models able to cast low cost warlock spells, I recall at least one Skorne Solo and two Circle warbeasts able do this.
Point taken, technically it’s not the same as channeling, but the effect is rather similar ;)

So it’s best if i get the ‘forces of’ book to find out which models have channeling.

Thank you, it wasn’t very clear in the rulebook. :-)

Don’t forget Domination. Circle got an amazing channeler model in that book. A 1 point tree that teleports itself around and acts as an arc node would be welcome in any faction, but adding it to the faction that already has woldwardens makes them the current kings of channeling in hordes.

Channelling in Hordes is much more model specific….HOWEVER…a Warlock can, in their activation, pay fury off themselves to use a beast’s animus FROM the beast (So Madrak 10″ from an Impaler pays to have it give it’s animus to a Bomber 16″ from Madrak but only 4″ from the Impaler). This is channeling how it happens most often in Hordes. Certain other models can channel (Spell Martyrs, Gallows Grove, certain bonded beasts etc.) as Dais says but this is not the most common method in Hordes.

As a small note: the Forces of Hordes books no longer contain the full complement of models for each faction as Hordes: Domination has added several new models for each faction on top of them as well as the new rules for Battle Engines.

    Thank you.

I have been looking at the Gallows grove models & thanks to you I now have an excuse to talk my wife into letting me get them LOL. I’ve also been looking at the Druid Wilder, is she worth taking?

  • Avatar Image mrchom88p said 1 year, 1 month ago:

For 2 points the Wilder’s not bad as opportunities go to do things like extend your control range. For instance…if you know a charge will take a beast out of control range then simply running the Wilder out can give you the extra few inches you need to get there and boost. The ability to clear off Fury can be handy too…..charge a beast out, load it up, condition it to remove all the fury…..Suddenly your Warlock can transfer to it more easilly and a second beast can go all out the same turn with no potential of a frenzy next turn.

Thank you, she does sound pretty good, just hope my wife is in a good mood & feeling generous now lol.

Well, if a book proves to be too expensive, you could always go for faction decks. They only cost a fraction and still have all the rules, although to be honest I have no idea if the new domination units are included

  • Avatar Image wardolly5p said 1 year, 1 month ago:

A friend of mine got the faction deck for his Menoth, now he has excess & duplicate cards that he said he does’nt need & probably never use, so i think the books would be a better choice for me,(even if they are more pricey).

  • Avatar Image mrchom88p said 1 year, 1 month ago:

Also of note: Faction decks contain cards only up to (But not including) Warmachine Prime/Hordes Primal Mk2. So they would be missing the new beast from each force in Prime, the new units/beasts/UAs from the faction books AND everything from Hordes: Domination.

  • Avatar Image baummonster105p said 1 year, 1 month ago:

Just saying, that’s all ;) I prefer the book for the fluff alone, but those decks can be handy too.
Another option could be PP’s soon-to-be-released warroom app, which itself is free but “only” contains the cards from starterboxes, with faction decks available for purchase at the regular retail price

I ment no offence. I’m like you, I love a nice bit of background :-D

My friend got his deck to upgrade from MKI to MKII, he got a card for everythong in the forces book, but like you said, nothing from the expantions
