Guys im thinking of getting a Haqqislam Starter Pack. I like the way they look and their really ethical thinking. Should i get them?

They use viral ammo and impersonators so I’m not sure about the ethical bit but yes take them. Easy access to doctors and a high willpower are a plus. Might want to use a Ghulam as your Lieutenant seeing as most people go right for the Janissares as the Lt. choice and it’s painfully obvious. Remember that your Naffatun can go from a light flamethrower to a heavy one for only a point more so go for that. You start with a Hunzakut sniper but I might use him as a proxy for a Tuareg or Lasiq sniper and see how that goes for you. And if you want to add some beef then try the Azra’il with the Feverbach and maybe and Odalisque with a boarding shotgun to cut some armor in half at close range. Food for thought. Good Luck.

A couple things to remember with Haqqs is that they have strength in numbers. The expensive guys are cool but their light to medium is their strength. You should always outnumber any other faction other than Ariadna. Also, they don’t have medics, they have Doctors! anytime you have points left over, upgrade guys to doctors. Nothing is more frustrating that working so hard to kill a fig and then have him get back up on his feet.

I agree with everything spaderfish and celestialdragonking said. Haqqislam is a fun faction to play. The only thing I would not necessarily get for Haqq is the Magariba Guard. It’s their tag, I haven’t seen anyone use it effectively. Also, when you take it, you will unlikely outnumber other factions. If you find a good way to use it, please make a post.

One great thing to point out is that with Haqq most special units are Religious and don’t suffer from loss of lieutenant. As mentioned, with their high willpower stats the medic skill and lieutenant can be snuck in the line troops with little worries of them not being useful.
Djanbazan, Lasiq, and Fiday will be great additions to your starter box.
Djanbazan will give you multispectral visor and regeneration along with some good heavy weapons.
Lasiq is by far one of the best snipers with their viral ammo and Climbing Plus.
And Fidays can take apart your opponent’s flanks if deployed right.

I just started playing Nomads over the weekend. Had 2 games VS. the Haqq starter set, and I was pretty impressed with what you get. The camouflaged sniper was super tricky to deal with….and janissaries are pretty deadly. I hear that the faction also has some kind of assassin that starts in your enemy’s deployment zone in base contact with one enemy model….

At the end of the day though, the game is balanced enough that it really doesn’t matter what faction you pick. It’s all about tactics and picking the right skills and orders to use at the right time. If you like a faction…and think they have great skills pick them, but outplaying your opponent beats lists and factions every time. Pick models you like and make them work. I’ve had my best guys killed early in the game and still managed to pull off a win with regular soldiers.

@t9nv3 The Hassassin Fiday can deploy anywhere outside the opponents deployment zone or in their zone with a willpower roll, but not in base-to-base contact. If your local Haqq players are doing that then slap them on the wrist.

We’re all still playing starter box games. That rule sounded kind of broken. Either way, I had plans for deploying in such a way as to cover my deployment zone with multiple lanes of fire. Just in case of drop troops and whatnot.

I agree about upgrading to doctors. so much better than paramedics as you have a good chance of reviving your fallen players as opposed to killing them off

Thanks for all the tips guys! I’m so excited to begin. The game is growing fast in Singapore!

  • Avatar Image celestialdragonking171p said 1 year, 1 month ago:

Singapore! Wow that’s pretty cool. You should tell Corvus Beli that!

There was a guy I was talking to who was talking about making a force based on the Red Crescent. All Ghulam are doctors and the rest are their bodyguards. I don’t know if he ever went through with it but its’ a great idea.

I will just say that the Lasiq and the Ragik are worth their weight in gold. The Lasiq is possibly the best sniper in the game with viral ammo and and X Visor which reduces range penalties, perfect for keeping the enemy pinned, while the Ragik can just drop in the behind the enemy and unload a shotgun into them.

Played against Haqq’s on the weekend and again got my end handed to me. I’m always outnumbered playing my Shasvastii. Mission was to occupy a building not in our deployment zone and hold it. Also, try to take the enemies. Other vp for killing Lt. etc etc. I just didn’t have enough guys to hold or take. mine was 10 and his about 17! 10, 5, and 2 irregular. You can see though how I had very bad view from any building.

The pipe thing in the middle blocked all line of site pretty much.
