A place to discuess and help people get into the great game of Infinity.
I’ll be running an Infinity tournament on the Sunday at the University College Dublin RetCon games convention.
Details below.
For anybody who might be interested and doesn’t know, 250 points is a 30 euro starter box, plus two of the higher point value 9 euro blisters . So it can be reasonably done for 50 euro if you want. Here’s a guide to starting Infinity for anybody considering it – http://infinity-ireland.org/node/13
All available from Gamers World on Jervis street of course.

RETCON Infinity tournament – Sunday April 1st.
2nd member tournament of the 2012 All-Ireland Infinity Cup.
Free to enter – however you need to pay in to the convention, 7 euro for the day or 10 euro for the weekend. 250 points. 5 SWC. Beginner friendly. Scenario based. Painting NOT required – minor bonus for fully painted forces of +1 to willpower for starting roll. Space for 12 players – maybe more, TBC.
Rules are as per the Infinity cup rules – available here http://www.dragonslayers.org.uk/images/files/infinity%20cup%20rules.pdf
With two minor changes: Sign-up email address is ‘events at infinity-ireland dot org’ (replace at with @, and dot with .) Players can sign-up on the day as well as in advance. Spaces will only be held for those who have signed up beforehand until official tournament start time.
One small change to the rule-set.
We’re going to allow the optional use of a 2nd army list. It must be the same faction/sectorial, and you have to choose which army list to use before starting the game, but after scenario and opponent is known.
Tournament has been expanded to 20 places as we’ve already got 14 players signed up!
Thanks to the RetCon guys for making the space available, and if anybody is dithering about coming along, do come, it should be excellent.
Here’s the hand-out for the RetCon Infinity Tournament. http://www.gregfarrell.org/infinity/RetConHandout.pdf
It contains the three scenarios, scoring methods, terrain rules etc.
As you can see from the Scenarios everybody is going to want: 1 hostage model 1 VIP model (this can be the same as the hostage if you like) 1 guard model (2 guards needed for the scenario, but each player will hopefully have one).
You’re under no obligation to provide these – we’ll provide models if you don’t, but ours will be boring and plain and you did always want to rescue that Bakunin Cat-lady, didn’t you?
Only 6 days until the RetCon Infinity tournament.
Starting time 10:30 am sharp, registration from 10:00, so please turn up at 10:00am to be be ready to start by 10:30
We’ve got 15 players pre-registered and are expecting additional players on the day.
Heya lads,
Tonight, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday evenings I’m running Infinity demos from 7:30pm in Ranelagh.
They’re aimed at anybody interested in Infinity but who hasn’t played it before and would like to play at RetCon this Sunday.
Loaner armies are also available for the day.
Obviously you should expect to get hammered in a game or two on Sunday if you’ve never played before but some brave souls may feel like chancing it anyway. There will be swiss pairing to make some effort to protect beginners after the first round and people will be able to play pickup games during rounds if a game is very short – and Infinity can be very quick. I’m surprised to say I already have one lad signed up to play their first ever game on Sunday so this is to help any other similar brave souls
Email or PM me for address/phone details.
So, after collapsing into my sofa last night, I’m finally up to sending some photos around.
These are a mix of my camera phone and Myk/Killian’s cameras.
The lad shaking my hand is the winner – John Wille.
Great day, with 18 players, plenty of terrain, scenarios that went smoothly and lots of fun had, I think.
The results are:
1: John Wille 2: Killian McKeever 3: Stephen Fletcher 4: Paul Quigley 5: Hunter Kelly 6: Joe Clark 7: Lorcan Nagle 8: John Stowe 9: Matt O’Brien 10: Jennifer Johnston 11: Padraic O’ Confhaola 12: Marcus Beirne 13: Thomas Todd 14: David Kenny 15: Joshua Todd 16: Philip Redpath 17: Alex Cowan 18: Gavin O’Reilly
Thanks to everybody who came along and played and also to those who gave me terrain for the day. I really appreciate the help, lads.
Greg
