Well be back!
A close friend and I were playing a game recently (2K Necrons-vs-Tyranids)
A unit of his came into close combat with my Doomsday Ark, he rolled and got two weapon destroyed results. He took the Doomsday Cannon and then said he would take the one side of the Gauss Flayers. We disagreed on what should happen there so here’s the question.
In the codex it states: ” …has two separate arrrays of five gauss flayers.” My friend said that all five were taken in the weapon destroyed result he cited the Hurricane bolter that a dreadnought can use for space marines. That when that is destroyed it takes all the bolters.
I gave the viewpoint that the wording of the codex means it has ten of those guns, thus it can have 11 weapon destroyed results. Seems a bit much but the way I was reading it made us wonder…. Thoughts?
I interpret as destroys the array. You can’t individually destroy partial twin linked weapons (thereby making them single shot) nor do dreadnoughts lose only the cc/weapon, they lose the arm. Fluff wise just assume there is a gauss feedback or an essential power conduit was fried, or perhaps the damage was severe and the necron AI was unable to fire the array.
Weapon destroyed definitely counts as an entire array, in its wargear it’s stated as 2 gauss flayed arrays rather than 10 gauss flayers
Thanks, we both felt the same in the game. So being a good guy an wanting to keep the game fun we went with it.
