There is no ‘need to boycot GW plc’.
Just look at other companies product that may be more suited to your needs.

‘Hate is like taking poison yourself, and expecting the other person to die.’

Just use your own initiative to move you to where you want to be.
Be happy, be creative , and say,’Games Workshop who were they then? ‘

A bit Zen ,but you know it makes sense…. (pun intended.)

Well they just put the final nail in the coffin for me. I was contemplating getting into 40k with the new edition coming up… But knowing that the new edition will:

    A. Favor bigger armies
    B. Be after the price increase

I know I’m not going to bother. If I ever am going to play a “grand” scale wargame in a sci-fi setting it would be Mantics or Dropzone Commander at the moment.

Last time I got seduced to a new army it cost me 350 euro’s to get to a viable 1500-1750 points army. And that was with 25% off the price!

I personally voted with my pocket I went heaver into warmachine and hordes. I’m keeping my 40k eldar army till after 6th edition but my dwarfs are up for sale. Gw has a business model that seems to work for now but eventually it will put its self out of business. Its the same with countries that over tax its citizens to pay for entitlements just take a look at grease. Not looking to get political but its a fair example of what will eventually happen, the free market will correct this issue in time. Until then if you wish to find me ill be in the Iron Kingdom playing like i gotta pair.

If you are comparing what happend/is happening in Greece with what GW is doing… I suggest you take a few minutes of your time to read up on what has caused the problems in Greece.

Well put crartist24. GW are fueling themselves on borrowed time.

I know it’s hard to run a company these days, but even if GW did get a decent tax break, they’d still treat their customers badly – they just have some bad apples who need the sack. The free market IS correcting these issues. It just takes time, and rightly so. When companies don’t provide the goods – even if they have somewhat of a monopoly – others down the line will come to fill the gap.

I loved one person’s comment that it would sting less if GW provided the service you expect … i.e quality control. / I resent having to pay for those awful bricks and mortar Games Workshops.

GW, imo, should change their bricks and mortar stores to LITERAL games workshops. Sell the full range, buy wholesale from other companies (undercutting them in that case), ALSO provide non-miniature games, like special versions of Monopoly etc (with the death of the ‘toy shop’ it’s harder to get hold of board games nowadays).

@poosh, I agree completely. I’ve been saying a while now that GW should split into Games Workshop Hobby Centers and Citadel Games, two distinct companies under one parent company. With good management, both divisions could flourish.

@crartist24 While I don’t think it’s quite like Greece, GW is eating way at their demand on purpose, seemingly oblivious to the fact that the community aspect of the game drives sales. If 3/5 of your gaming group gets priced out, the community will wither and die; compounding the lost demand that they have found acceptable so far. I’m shocked they didn’t reach that threshold last year, but fans seem determined to torture themselves rather than cashing out.

You know what amuses me the most? An investment in new NIB GW products has probably yielded a better dividend than investment in gw stock over the last three years.

I’ve voted with my wallet. I have sold all my GW armies on ebay. I now play Warmahordes and Mantic.

I did an average price comparison for a hordes tourney army compared to a 40K one. from scratch a 50pt hordes army including counters, templates and books will cost you £184.24 (approx). A 1750pt Blood Angel (i used this army as the basis because it was what i collected) tourney army (before price rises) including counters, templates and books will cost you……. £342.25 (approx). both these figures were achieved using online retailer prices. Manufacturer RRP puts PP at around £205 and GW at £450 (approx).

I will not be buying or playing 6th edition. Warpath and Kings Of War sate my large scale wargame hunger. Privateer Pres my skirmish.

Farewell GW, it was fun at the start. Your constant price rises and lack of respect for me as a gamer and a human being (rather than a walking wallet) have left a bitter taste in my mouth.

I always dream of GW returning to its roots and redoing the White Dwarf of old and Games stores that sells all sorts of games not just GW games…of course I have such a store locally and its not an awful GW shop. FLGS for the win

6th ed and the Hobbit could be an interesting turning point…or not ;)
