    @evilstu

    I think you responded as I was typing ha ha ha
    Yeah I was just talking about the plastic kits the Mordheim never had plastic as far I know. They do have some lovely female characters but, plastics is where it is at for conversion and I think it shows a bit of a bias, but be that based on sales data, difficulty in sculpting, or just plain old no girls allowed I don’t know. I would say most probably one and two more than three.

    OH AND AS FOR HANDS DON’T GET ME STARTED!
    Do you know there is only one open unarmoured hand in all the WARHAMMER AND 40K RANGE!? The Empire mage kit, it has one, there is literally not another single hand that is open in the whole range. OH YOU WANT SPACE MARI- no no I will stop there. I will stop there…
    I will stop.
    Stopping.
    That’s what I am gonna do.
    stop…

    Ok calm blue oceans. Calm blue…

    Okay, so yeah left handedness is a thing with them I am sure it is they seem to thing… a lack of hands…

    *This post was cut short due to technical difficulties and defiantly not due to moderator control when we saw him flip out like a monkey and start screaming.*

    @caladors

    Jesus Christ I wrote a long reply and lost the thing. Here we go again.

    I never tried to ‘jump on’ anyone. I mean, maybe I misread the tone of some of the discussions and saw them as a debate than a dogpile on someone. I also have an approach of trying to cool things down with a calmer minds prevailing mentality. Some stuff did get a bit bonkers at times though to be fair.

    Man am I tired and not with it today. Spelling error was an error @caladors , apologies. Maybe a Freudian slip…

    That King of Nubia thing seems pretty legit :D

    Pledge sounds good.

    Pizza eh? I demolished one myself along with some Risk the other night.

    Collie Tours! Thats a new one. Minis or Medals is a better title. I intend to keep the challenge in the thread yes, sorry if I gave the impression otherwise.

    Darn this internet! Mordheim had two kits that became Warhammer kits, plastic that is. I still love that game.

    Stopping with the grace and silence of a runaway freight train, haha.

    I miss the game. I like to think it is still out there somewhere… Like in the Game World. From a background perspective bringing it back to life out of nowhere could work.

  • Avatar Image irredeemable1304p said 1 week ago:

    @mage
    I’m sure they could bring it back if they really wanted to. Bloodbowl survives in its own little universe so no reason Mordheim couldn’t. And maybe they could go off the deep end altogether. Claim that when the Olde Worlde blew up, Mordheim was so soacked in Chaos and Warpstone that it was protected. Now it floats through the realms, still inhabited by the warring gangs but also a hunting ground for the new races moving through the Realm Gates.

    Just between us, when I’m playing Frostgrave, I’m secretly thinking of Mordheim….

    Definitely agree that Mordheim could work well if brought back. Was excited when it was announced Specialist Games would be re-releasing a few of the ‘classics’, but sadly it is yet to be. As Mordheim was set 500 years before pre-End Times WHFB you could get away without a lore update, but as @irredeemable points out there was more than enough wyrdstone floating around for things to be retconned in to the current paradigm. Would be a nice way of keeping all of those historical model lines ‘in use’ too.

    @evilstu Terrainiacs facebook group might be a good place to seek help. Not to quit, just to be with like minded terrain addicts. Check out the Terrain Tutor on you tube.

    As far as I am concerned, I hate the multiple zero big campaigns. They have often little creator/backer interaction and miss the point of Kickstarter. I have met some really cool game designers and players through the small campaigns. Whilst I might back some of the bigger ones for the product, it is the small ones I prioritise and always get a buzz when they get funded.

    @mage Iron Golem do the Wood Elf FF team with the Treeman that Matty likes. I sent them a message and they got back to me to tell me that late pledges would be set up in the pledge manager.

    I did not mean to be dismissive of the theme idea, I just feel this is the wrong place. It is the free form and non-constricted development of the weekenders that makes them what they are. Bigabum puts up a watercolour, seldon9 some infinity models or a bat rep, you put up everything. There is no structure, and that is the beauty in my opinion. If we are all doing a theme, it becomes just another vision of the same view. Exactly the opposite to what I come here for.

    I still have some Necromunder models. There were plastic ones, solid single piece with a thick mould line all the way around and that weird flexible soft plastic that some board games back in the day were made from so you could not get rid of the line without damaging the model.

    Would you believe in the Fabled Realms people were given the choice of plastic or resin models, and went with plastic?!?

    Boardgamers invade my world, demanding miniatures in their games, but not prepared to do the hard yards to get them made and painted. They (and Role players) saw our armies, thought to themselves, “that’s pretty, much better than cardboard tokens”, they demanded models and are now demanding easy as the default, not quality. The model industry is shit at present, which is why I have gone the independent models on kickstarter route. I bought all the Cryx and Everblight in metal I could get, still some mercs I want, but pretty much quit on WM/H with the new models. Same with Malifaux. Same with (the company that shall not be named).

    Spike and skulls is not character and plastic is not metal and pretty 3d designs kill what is left of hand sculpted character..

    @irredeemable Well they could always just plop Mordheim somewhere down in the mortal realms with some sort of over simplified reason like they did with how Freeguild guys represent Empire and how Elves reincarnated out of slaanesh and people started appearing again.

    Problem is Mordheim was wiped out in some earlier era of the Empire in WHFB lore. Id like to think it wasn’t and maybe its records were just removed from maps, etc., as the world got gradually more dangerous maybe less people were inclined to seek it out. Probably not, im stretching things a bit thin there.

    Or simplyify it and say it got sucked into the realm of Chaos, as you say

    @evilstu I think everyone is thinking Mordheim with Frostgrave and it hits that particular nostalgic sweet spot of Mordheim.

    The theme, tone, and campaign system of Mordheim is super fun and the darkness of the artwork and presentation of the models and scenery of the rulebook gave it a more gritty, special factor. I don’t think this could be recaptured ala Necromunda and Shadow War Armageddon in the High Fantasy setting of the Mortal Realms.

    When Magnus the Pious marched up to Mordheim with his army to raise the city who knows what happened and how history was rewritten.

    I miss and love the historic Mordheim lines.

    I also have an outstanding pile of minis to assemble, namely a Coven Throne and Hexwraiths:

    Also got a second smoke alarm to fix up too.

    The Trandoshans are nearly done, I’ll post pictures once the bases are complete – just doing some water effect (not actual Water Effect) on their bases and some grass, then voila, done!

    Tonight some Ravenloft Board Game is on the cards with @irredeemable

    Also I am tempted by two of the new Start Collecting Sets from GW for Age of Sigmar

    @caladors

    Old School. Better name than mine and you blew it out of the water.

    That engine looks complicated. I know you have an end game planned but it must be a lot of work.

    Third times a charm right? Internet ate my reply 2 times already

    Hey all! Busy time in here!
    I’ve not had much time for hobby myself though. I did get some stuff done yesterday afternoon. I’m not entirely happy with the finish on the highlight on the skin. It’s too much of a harsh difference. I could blend them down a little…

    The next batch base coated, ready for dipping.

    One day all the armies will be painted… one day.
  • Avatar Image mage4344p said 6 days, 2 hours ago:

    @rayzryr That’s some cool stuff, I really like it! :) Skin looks good. How are you thinking of blending it down.

  • Avatar Image rayzryr567p said 5 days, 10 hours ago:

    I’m thinking of finding a colour between the two that I have used and going over the edges, trying to smooth the transition a little
    Ideally I won’t have to mix colours, but I’m not afraid to do that if I have to.

    @irredeemable and I got a session in of the Ravenloft board game. It was one of the first real ‘nerd’ board games I picked up, a good few years ago now. I have a soft spot for this reason as well as painting the set up with two friends.

    We played agrresive but also smart and complet the first scenario with no major hiccups. He chose the Dregonborn fighter and I went with the Elven… Mage. The game didn’t take too long ether. Ate, chatted and chilled before the game, and played the game: just under two hours.

    Our real D&d sessions is Friday. The gf wants to play so need to generate a level 3 dwarf fighter, without a phb. I showed @irredeemsble there is a fifth ed redux of the original Ravenloft campaign which seemed to pique his interest. We’ve been talking about using a pre-written supplement to continue in with after we’ve used up the starter set.
