So I got a tad bored this afternoon so decided to have a bit of a root around in some of the various boxes I’ve used to store parts of my GW collections since the rise of Apocalypse and it’s trickle down of war machines into 40k caused me to “Peace Out!” more than a few moons ago.

After a bit of a rummage I found some bits I had genuinely forgotten about, projects begun and then abandoned when my enthusiasm for the game withered and gaming time dried up due to work.

My plan is to use this thread as a motivator to dig these projects up and look to give them a resurrection as 8th edition approaches. First though, lets see what got dug up….

    First up, some Imperial Guard.
This was an attempt to convert up a Cadian version of Captain Al’Rahem, mainly kitbashes of the Cadian & Catachan kits, but with some resin heads from Puppets War (I think) for the good Captain and his sergeants

This bunch were an attempt to make some Cadian-flavoured Rough Riders, with a “civilised” version of Mogul Kamir

Various IG Veterans including a delegation from the Tanith 1st & Only….

And an Inqusitoral delegation of sorts

    Oh, and a converted Commissar…

    A few Dark Angel remnants….

Man, that old Blood Angel Captain still looks great even today….

Vet Sgt Naman and his scouts.

Huh, I think these were for a Crimson Fist project….

You should definitely try and ‘ revive ‘ the Cadian Al’ Rahem, that mini and his squad look great :) , then the Crimson Fists ( my codex marine army of choice :D ). I try not to think about what i’d find if i were to have a rummage around the dark corners of my hobby cave :( .

    Lets see, what else?
Tactical squad built using the old Sgt/ Mk VIII chestplate, that for some reason I decided to give bayonets…

Company Command Squad and Captain. Again I think these were for the Crimson Fists project…

    Assault squad

    Some slightly random other Astartes…

And a box of metal old Vanguard Veterans

Oh, and some Wolf Scouts & Wolf Guard….

  • Avatar Image dawfydd1286p said 10 months ago:

Thanks @kantor72 ! Yeah, I actually forgot that I picked up a set of the Dark Angel veterans for parts until I opened up the old Marine Army Set box from 4th Ed that I’ve been using to store sprues. That was a surprise….

Hopefully a pleasant one ? With all the happy ( and hopeful ) feelings i am getting from reading about 40k 8th ed, i may well have to brave a rummage and see what has been hiding in boxes :D .

It was!! Gives me more parts & options to play with. I’ve a growing pile of HH Mk III & IV sprues so might add some of the DA parts to kitbash a squad of Fallen or HH-era Angels…

Huh. I hadn’t realised the Raven Guard were that far along. Pretty sure there’s a Land Speeder Typhoon and one of the old Forge World Mk. IV Dreadnoughts around here somewhere as well a Shrike that only got primed…

  • Avatar Image dawfydd1286p said 10 months ago:

Geez. I think I built some of these Wolves during the FIRST Eye of Terror campaign…

And yes, for the keen-eyed those are the claws from a Spyer Malcadon on one of the Deathwatch….

I think this chap was an attempt to represent the Raptors Chapter Master from the Badaab War Imperial Armour books? I remember he was supposed to be one hell of a marksman with a spiffy custom bolter….

Never could work out just where to use these two…

Blood Angel captain and the start of an Honour Guard?

And a Chaplain that, again, I couldn’t quite work out where to fit in…

A pair of Inquisitors – First up Silas Hand from the old Black Library series Deamonifuge, and an attempt to convert an updated take on the classic Inquisitor in Terminator armour (or as some might know it “A Jaq Draco”) – a pain in the ass as this was before the plastic Grey Knights, so if I remember rightly the thunder hammer head is two plasma pistols, the shoulderpad skull is the top of Eisenhorn’s staff from Inquisitor, the head is a Van Saar Leader, and (ironically) the bionic leg is actually from the original Termie-Inquisitor….

Huh. I didn’t think I’d kept these – Raptors from an army that I took to (I think) it was the 2003 Grand Tournament? I remember there was a hilarious moment in one game where a Rhino and my Razorback spent half the game trying to get in each other rear arcs to claim a quadrant…

And more of the Poor Bloody Guard. Shows the evolution of an army though:
This first bunch were all built from the classic metal Cadians, but I went a bit nuts and added the slimmer barrels and magazines from plastic Catachans….

  • Avatar Image dawfydd1286p said 10 months ago:

Modded up some Storm Troopers using an article for Elysian Drop Troops from a Third War For Armageddon article on alternative regiments….

  • Avatar Image dawfydd1286p said 10 months ago:

Before settling onto this bunch using the Cadian plastics…

These were supposed to be an combat engineer / demoltions team if I remember right

And all good armies need some brass, so Ursaker Creed became The Brig, by simple addition of one might ‘stache…

(And you know what, some ten years later I’m still quite proud of this little guy…)
