“The time has come” the Walrus said,
    “To talk of many things:
    Of shoes–and ships–and sealing-wax–
    Of cabbages–and kings–
And why the sea is boiling hot–
    And whether pigs have wings.”

So anther week ends and another hobby weekender begins. Welcome, come in.

Post up you Work in progress, brag about your latest win, cry about that defeat (we won’t laugh at you. Very much…) Talk about your life and dreams, think about what it all means and get a different perspective on what it means to be part of this hobby.

And that brings us to the brain benders, the questions of the week. Answer these, make a pledge, post some pictures and share some moozik with us all.

    (1) Do you play video games or are they just not your thing? Why/not?

    (2) When building a model, do you build in sub-assemblies or do you put it all together and hope for the best as far as paintability goes?

    (3) Terrain, vehicles or miniatures? What’s your thing? Why?

    (4) Fish or Bird? You could be a fish or a bird, would you rather swim or fly?

    (5) 1 Pop/rock/music icon, 1 politician and 1 historical figure join you for a game night. Who are they, what game do you play and what would you talk about?

    (6) Do you or do you not?

And another couple of ANDYs have joined Number 5 (Number 5 Alive…)
Number3, search and rescue in the orange colour scheme to denote fire fighting. and Number6 Surveillance droid in the popular bounty hunter colour scheme.

There’s only so many hours in the day! Also I finished work. I won’t be participating in hobby night live tonight with dinner plans on the horizon.

    My pledge:

    (1) get my girlfriend to finish assembling her dwarfs
    (2) finish painting dead shot and the Gotham Butcher for BMG

Short and sweet this week with my son up and the Fleadh Ceoil na hEireann on for the next ten or eleven days.

Not a proper video but the tune is good

Well, fingers crossed, the weekend is looking relatively clear at the moment, so should be able to be a bit more active.

Been listening to a bit of Magnum (On a Storytellers Night)

Taking Dawn (Not Safe For Work)

    amd Black Veil Brides

This weeks pledge is to play a game of Blood Bowl My Dwarves (or is it Dwarfs?) Vs Matty and his Orcs. Am also currently attempting the Larakeets, @fishman put up last week, in Oils. Got most of the underpainting done and a bit of highlighting but still someway to go though.

@fishman ooh never seen the little droidy guys before what are they? Great job on the Mini’s by the way. Love the Night Gobbo Shaman especially.

    Right on to the questions.

    1) On occasion, mostly survival horror, but enjoyed the Halo series and Gears of War. I prefer the older stuff that tended to put puzzle solving over combat, mainly because my reaction time is a little off. I hate button Mashers.

    2) I’m a construct first and curse later type of guy.

    3) Mmmm, I suppose of the three I would have to say miniatures, although as I say often i’m more of a gamer than anything else.

    4) Oh dear. I dont think either species has a great deal. If i was a bird I would have to be one of the flightless things due to being scared of hieghts (I think I was king Kong in a previous life and theat fall off the Empire State Building really put me off). I don’t think I would want to be a fish, fancy swimming around in the same water you use as a toilet …. yuk.

***Edited*** (coz i missed the question)

    5) Mmmm so many to choose from Methinks John Lennon (may have to stick to co-operative games though). Oooh thought pop music Icons were hard, politicians are even worse…. uhhhm ** Suggestion from Matty** Theresa May. He figures that if she could talk to him and see the damage Austerity is doing to real people she might ease off on hitting the disabled and others with more cutbacks to services. Historical is easier… Jesus. Why? coz if we run out of wine or Pizza he can sort us out (*Snide comment from Matty* “… and the way you roll dice you need a faffin miracle.”)

    6) I do… coz I might enjoy it and if I don’t I’ll know not to do it again.

    Catch ya Later guys

    Questions

    ?
    (1) Do you play video games or are they just not your thing? Why/not?

    Yes.

Why? Well a lot of reasons, one is that you get transported to worlds in which you don’t live. I really love games like Dragon Age Inquisition and Skyrim where you can wonder a world and just be there.

    (2) When building a model, do you build in sub-assemblies or do you put it all together and hope for the best as far as paintability goes?

    uhhhhhhh

    Depends…
How quick and dirty do I want to be, what kind of model is it? Does it have a cape? If it has a cape I will likely do it in parts just so I am not filled with trouble.

These questions require far more text than I am currently giving.

    (3) Terrain, vehicles or miniatures? What’s your thing? Why?

    Terrain.

Though I do more minis, terrain is much more rewarding, when it is good. It is so good seeing a building all done up it is truly wondrous, but what looks truly amazing is a well done tree.

I am going to re do these answers when I am not watching TV

    (4) Fish or Bird? You could be a fish or a bird, would you rather swim or fly?

    Birds.
Birds are far more evolved, and they have more than just the power of flight relative to size they have the longest lifespan in the world. They also have fairly complex brains.

    (5) 1 Pop/rock/music icon, 1 politician and 1 historical figure join you for a game night. Who are they, what game do you play and what would you talk about?

Nope no politics, even naming historical figures would show stuff and people tend to go crazy. I have seen the news and I am not far time and distance from a uni.

    (6) Do you or do you not?

    Do or do not what?
    Pledge

the WAYPN videos and I am going to finish my tutorial on the lava bases.

I will comeback later to do a more full write up, and comments

Okay time to read back over the thread. Working all the way through the weekend and my boy is up til Tuesday.

I finished Heatwave for the Batman Miniatures game. He was 95% done during the week so didn’t include him in the pledge. I need to get off my behind and start posting pics.

I did a little work on my two Imperial Assault Heroes. They are nearly dont but man is it turning into a trudge. I don’t know if its all the neutral colours and browns, or the scale or the quality of the material it was cast in. Anyhow onward and upward. I did a tiny bit of work on the Gotham butcher and Deadshot too, and did a wash on him this morning. Loving painting him.

Right, time to wake my brain up and go back over the questions…

@fishman Nice marine and goblin. Can’t wait to see more.

@biggabum I’ll give all those a listen later when I have a chance. Nice painting, reminds me of one I had in my room growing up as a child. Enjoy your game of Bloodbowl.

@caladors Nice trees and bases. I’m thinking of making a 3/4 of the way through the year resolution when Autumn comes around: (1) don’t buy new minis, (2) If I buy something make it terrain, (3) get my outstanding terrain painted before Christmas or at least try.

    (1) Do you play video games or are they just not your thing? Why/not?

I do but not as much as before. When I split with my son’s mother I realised I had to do more than sit down in front of a console to help me get out of that spiral and improve my life. I focussed faaaar less on games (though I did play on occasion) and way more on hobby, family, friends, socialising and fitness. I still play a bit now but only something that interests me and my interests can be particular. Over the last year I’ve mainly been playing Pokemon games on the DS, Lego Dimensions on my old Xbox 360 and some Oceanhron (a Zelda esque game) on the PS4 with the gf. I dusted off some old xbox games I’d like to play with her when my son isn’t around, the weather makes outdoor activities defunct and there’s not much else to do.

    (2) When building a model, do you build in sub-assemblies or do you put it all together and hope for the best as far as paintability goes?

I do whichever is most practicle but have no solid rule. Something like a plastic modular infantry kit I can kind of do instinctively in the case of the later, but with something bigger like a tank a build carefully in sub assemblies and then assemble. I never paint sub assemblies except in the case of big turrets or side sponson weapons on tanks.

    (3) Terrain, vehicles or miniatures? What’s your thing? Why?

Miniatures all the way. They are the ones who tell the stories, make the battles and perform heroics. In more than one way they drive the games and represent character.

    (4) Fish or Bird? You could be a fish or a bird, would you rather swim or fly?

Fly all the way. Bird. Specifically some sort of cybernetic eagle, or coming full circle to pokemon something like this or a Pterodactyl:

    https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Skarmory_(Pok%C3%A9mon)

    (5) 1 Pop/rock/music icon, 1 politician and 1 historical figure join you for a game night. Who are they, what game do you play and what would you talk about?

We play a very fast and loose kick down the door role play game. Do they have to be alive or can they be dead ones? I’ll go with the former.

Chris Farley, the late great comedian and former SNL star:

Politician – Bill Clinton, also for good times. As for historical figure… Gary Gygax, the creator of D&D, running it all for us. Plenty of beer, munchies and such! Good times.

    (6) Do you or do you not?

I do, but only if it is the right thing.
