I finished the other 6 Nurgleneth today, not as good as i hoped they would turn out, but still i’m pleased with the result. I can still see some parts where i coudl’ve done more with green stuff or where i could’ve been more carefull. But this was my first try at kit bashing and for that i’m happy with the final result.

While parts of the hideout dry i work on my vehicles. I think this is the way to do it. PVA and mortar just need time to dry.
Left evil barons transport car und right the dukes medium combat car:

@lawnor – that turned out unbelievably well. The color variations that you got with the airbrush are especially nice. And I really dig the glow effect for the eye. That bird looks *pissed*.

@dais – nice work on the painting (and basing). It’s cool to see someone going with a consistent theme for all of the KD:M beasties. I’m assuming you’re going to continue the same colour scheme?

Hi folks. I started roughing out the base for the windmill. The pink and blue stuff is extruded polystyrene foam.

I may completely change my mind about it by the morning :-/

First time for me on the WAYPN thread. For the most part, my painting is in bulk and usually to a mediocre table top standard. I just don’t have the time to invest any more effort and probably why I’ve never bothered to post here – it’s just not up to standard!

But recently my small gaming group decided to restart some AD&D and I felt that I needed a new model to represent my stalwart dwarven cleric. As this was just a single model, I could finally dedicate some time to improving my painting. With this in mind, I ordered a couple of models that looked suitable.

To improve my painting technique, I thought I would try to copy video tutorials, just to see how easy they are to emulate and what effect they will have on my painting. To catalog my progress, I’ve started a thread with each step,

But to add to the WAYPN, here’s my progress so far. I’ll add some more photos as the project progresses.

@janus1004 I hope the gift is well received and he takes up the hobby! It might just make you the cool uncle ;-)

@lawnor that bird is fantastic you should be rightly proud!

@dais another awesome bird! I see the changes you’ve made, nice :-) The lion is familiar, but I can’t place it. Where’d you grab it?

    @querion those turned out great! Damn… I want to go kit-bashing now…

@andre77 you’ve probably said already but… where did you get those vehicles?

@redvers Welcome! You don’t have to paint like a master to participate here, just come on in and have fun :-)

And then @suetoniuspaullinus comes in and is like “yeah I did this just today” like a boss :-D

One day all the armies will be painted… one day.

Splashes of blood on the flowers seemed like a nice contrast. The Freehand could have been better. Might have another stab another day. Enjoying painting my TWD models again.

Enjoyed doing the plaid on Alan’s shirt. Sandra and Sophia not finished but liked basing them up early. Gives me impetus because they seem closer to completion. :-)

@irishsteve Celestine looks beautiful… I am mid-way painting mine… I hope to paint it at least a fraction of pretty as yours!!!

@lawnor The inspiration was the Grimm from RWBY not the hollow from bleach but I imagine the hollow were an inspiration for grimm so you are close.

@fuzzydunlop If I can afford any new quarry expansions and find them in stock I will continue the theme to any monster it works with. I doubt I’ll follow suit with my nemeses.

@rayzryr Thanks for noticing the conversions I made to the phoenix. Modifying such an detailed mini was nerve-wracking but I had a desire to downplay the body horror just a bit. The lion is a kings of war mini with the rider removed. I don’t care for the style of the official kdm lion.

Below is a link to my old painting log. It is not up to date but it has a lot of my older painted stuff.

So here is some work from the other night. These guys were started Years ago… I took them out to finish while waiting for time + good weather to continue my WoK stuff.

They’ve had the Badab Black wash, highlights in Goblin Green.

Timely video is timely: Romain’s video on freehand DA emblems will be practiced on the one guy that doesn’t have a transfer on his pauldron.

  • Avatar Image rayzryr461p said 1 month, 1 week ago:

Freehand attempt at Dark Angels emblem on the pauldron. It’s crooked… but ok. Plenty of little tweaks and corrections as I went.
I’ve been painting Dark Angels almost for as long as I’ve been painting, I’ve never been satisfied with my attempts at freehanding this emblem. This is probably my best so far. Thanks @elromanozo !!!
