I’m not sure if you have heard about the inq28, or the inquisimunda, rulesystem? Think of it as the even smaller version of killteam with just a handful of models. It is the development of the old Necromunda rules that GW released in the 90ies.

Just like many of the specialist games the community continued to develop the rules long after GW had closed the support down.

I have started to create a small renegade inquisitor retinue and felt like I wanted to share my humble efforts with you guys.

Have been playing a few test games but I hope to be able to get a proper campaign going this autumn. Anyone else playing it here?

That’s a beautiful group of figures, very characterful. I love the idea of Inquisimunda – all that freedom for telling great stories and modelling fun figures. I made myself an inquisitor and his retinue a few years ago and played a game or two, but it petered out through lack of people to play against regularly.

Yes, lack of people is a big problem with a small game like this. I’m glad I manage to convince a friend of mine join in.

Great warband. I have a stockpile of minis and part done kit bashed forca 28 mm Inquisitor campaign. Not looked at inquisimunda rules was going to use inquisitor rules with 1/2 inch measurements.

@dags yes there are a few different rules systems out there for this kind of game.Did you get to play any games with that system? I leafed through the inquisitor rulebook and its massive.

@kevlin did a few bits with Inquisitor at 54 mm scale on release. It was definitely one for a GM in my mind and a hybrid of RPG and tabletop skirmish game. You needed to be careful with the force, a single marine was unsurprisingly deadly. If you want to play skirmish its probably not the system to be honest. However, as a rpg styled campaign it is really good, with plenty of detail. Biggest strength was probably the activation system, where a character had to commit to action before finding how many they could under take, then where stuck with it with potentially heroic or disastrous results. Biggest issue it suffered from was lack of/need to make specific 54 mm terrain

Currently think of running a mix campaign with rules suiting the story. So investigation and story part Inquisitor, skirmish 2nd ed/necromunda and or kill team, then maybe some small combat patrol games for wider story.

Sad old man trivia fact the prototype rules for inquisitor where in White Dwarf as confrontation which was background wise the forerunner to Necromunda.

I have been playing some games with the inquisimunda gamesystem and I like it. It’s not too close to the 40K rules so it feels like its own little corner of the grimdark.

But as a campaign I think we will incorporate the Heralds of ruin killteam too for more variety. Nice to have two levels to play depending on the size of the skirmish.

I’m currently writing the story around the planet that it will take place on. Very medieval and feudal with a touch of technology. That and I made a Forgeworld order to get me some more minis to add to my retinue. More pics will come :-)

I was thinking something near tau space and a stealer cult. If I get anything done will pop up pics.

A package from Forgeworld just arrived with some more nice minis for my retinue. This could be the inquisitor I have been looking for.

Got rid of the halberd and gave him a snazzy skiitari rifle instead. More fitting I thought. More coming during the week. At least a few more minis to glue. A flagellant and another mad ogryn.

Absolutely brilliant I love how people like you can take a mini and change a single thing about it to throw it into a totally new universe while at the exact same time looking like it was designed for it. It always amazed me that GW never did an official INQ28 because the sheer amount of mind boggling conversions people come up with could have filled a White Dwarf on it’s own

  • Avatar Image kevlin194p said 5 months, 2 weeks ago:

The forgeworld empire range is made for these sorts of conversions. Love them to death. More to come from there.

Cool collection! Lots of forge world goodness.

Did another Forgeworld model last week. This is taken from the same Empire command squad, I just added the eviscerator to make it just a little more 40K. Still some small details to fix to make him pop. Thinking about adding stripes to the chainsword.

Very nice work @kevlin . Love the thought and effort you are putting into each piece. Love to see the Inquisitor with skitarri rifle when you’ve finished him,and a few close ups of the original group shot would be snazzy too. don’t want much do I mate? Sorry .

    Cheers @beardragon14 :-)

I will see what I can do with more photos. Have a few more close ups on my blog (miniaturedarkness.wordpress.com) if you check it out but I will try and arrange for a photo opportunity when my Inquisitor is done. Next week have a few open slots for painting so finger crossed I manage to get something done :-)
