Dream Pod 9 Show More New Plastic Kits For Heavy Gear

Dream Pod 9 have shown off some new information for the world of Heavy Gear. As you may know they have been diving into the world of plastic and so they have taken to Kickstarter in an update to show off how the new models look against the old ones.
Here we have the Colonial Expeditionary Force or the C.E.F who have been put together using their first try at plastic kits. As a first go at producing the sprues I think they've done really well and while they still have a few kinks to iron out they are heading in the right direction.
Now for some comparisons (bearing in mind these are early models).
As you can see scale-wise they appear to be more or less in keeping with the original designs and the overall style of the models hasn't changed. What it could do is allow the range to become more accessible therefore bringing more people into Heavy Gear.

lets hope they can get the price down a little…..but plastic Caprice…..swoon.
They’re planning on selling plastic army boxes for 60$ (USD). The Caprice one comes with 5 of the small Acco mounts and 5 of the frames for the larger mounts to let you build a bunch of variants, at least one of which can be an Ammon (not sure how many Ammon parts come in it, but at least one).
I’m going to buy a mountain of these beauties! Between Heavy Gear and Halo it’s a good time to get into 15mm scifi.
I really do hope that this will be the means to make the game more appealing. I found it hard to find players as it was rather costly for the amount of models you got. With them being plastic, they can have more models per box set, therefore making it cheaper per model.
I hope this works for them. The setting is one of the best SF settings around – it’s a shame they ran out of steam with the RPG, although it seems they’ve been taking the storyline forward in the wargame.
I’ve never been overwhelmed by the miniatures, and I’m not now by the plastics, although it’s hard to really see what they might look like in real life. Hopefully we’ll get some good close ups at some point.
The plastics actually look quite good for a first try, though my heart will always belong to the long-lost 1:87s. Look forward to seeing how these progress, and how much detail will come out once they’re at the stage to start being painted up!
