The NuCoal have the most up to date Field Guide… but does that mean they’re the best?
Hell I love the zaku-like design of those mechs
I am loving stuff that Nu-Coal more than stuff that any other faction in Heavy Gear gets. Besides Nu-Coal gets gears that transform into tanks just like R-44 Guntank from Gundam F91 and Lodo from Gundam Unicorn.
You may, but the newer Field Guides that will be coming out are reported to bring in some of the more advanced Gears from the South and North, as well as some brand-new ones that have never been seen, even by veteran Heavy Gear RPG fans like myself. That’s the rumor, anyway.
Mm… yes, the NuCoal Gears do seem to have some Zaku-like properties, but Heavy Gear was more inspired by AT VOTOMS. Old anime.
Still, if it interests you, feel free to check things out on the Dream Pod 9 forums.
I like the sound of the Port Arthur corps – even if I would want to add a Mc or Mac to Arthur
Now there are just the rest to the fractions to cover like Black Tallon
K in Korps, rasmus. They’re former Earthers who are from a Russian-speaking New Earth Commonwealth.
I really like the enthusiasm you guys show, Andy and Darrell. Darrell, especially, looks like he will really enjoy playing as the North.
Sat Uplinks are great for Command Points, which are huge in regular games because they allow you to give an extra Action to as many other Models as you have Leadership Skill, so if you usually have Leadership 3 then three of your fellow Models can receive 1 Command Point Action apiece.
And the En Koreshi and Jannite GRELs don’t suffer from Berserk effects, and are sickeningly good in combat.
I enjoy the fact that you guys do an amazing job of pointing out just how many options are available to all the Models.
I’m building a paratroop regiment right now with lots of Jerbo paratroop scout gears and Chasseur paratroop gears. Secure a landing zone with Infantry and Sampson APCs adn Fusilier tanks then drop troops around them to bracket troops. Doing this as a Kyar Al Din army for many duelists despite it being not tourney legal right now. I want to be ready for when it moves out of beta.
