A Winter Argus is a vicious arctic predator… but will you be making way in your Hordes force for this white furred warbeast?
I have just orderd the 2 player hordes battle box with legion and CoO in. I’m finally starting to loose faith in GW so trying a few new games.
What are the hordes models like to paint? They look a little ‘toyish’ on the vids but seeing vids on youtube like from BTP making the models look awesome.
Having modelled lots of GW and recently spending my time and money on PP, I have to say I’m disappointed with PPs lack of extra bits and posing possibilities. It’s a good initial foray into plastics for PP, but from a modeller’s point of view, there is lots of room for improvement.

The latest GW plastics are extremely detailed and completely poseable. Quite the engineering feat (3D sculpting, better casting and a great plastic mix), and a good counterattack against the PP resin/plastic that was so very awesome compared to failcast !
The videos are great, but why not put the models fully together for us?
There models area lot of fun to pain IMO. Here is the thing though, with warmachine, its a game that sells models and when it comes to warhammer 40k its a range of models that happend to have a game. With warmachine and hordes you can expect constant support for new rules, units etc for your faction at least on a yearly basis while GW can leave you hanging out to dry for a few editions. Also warmachine is actually balanced unlike the the sillyness that GW calls a rule book.
IMO…PP minis can be awful or excellent with the odd somewhere in between. This is not my most loved mini but its ok. Some of the plastics are a bit more cartoon like vs the old metals but are of excellent quality and paint up nicely.
As a game unit I think its ok- but for Circle its all about the Feral really- the slayer, pure blood, gorax and the goats also seem useful as well. The argus seem to be a bit less useful/used.
The 2 player box is awesome
I completely agree… It’s nice and detailed, but a bit cartoony to my taste. And ordinarily, I’d be all over any new Circle model !
Winter Argus works well with Grayle as it fits his theme list but the armor animus and damage dump allow Grayle to get into combat where he shines.
