Impudent Mortal has launched a very innovative gaming accessory on Kickstarter today, The Tiles Of Adventure: Tabletop Grid System.

This project includes modular, clear, acrylic tiles- with or without a one inch grid, that allow you the flexibility to game over any map you have without the worry of damaging it, while offering unlimited replayability.

The tiles are designed for use with wet or dry erase markers, so you can mark away and not have reservations about bringing your favorite map out onto the game table. This allows an infinite number of options for gaming: Use just the tiles and let your imagination guide you with the use of markers; Use any of the fantastic print and play maps (like from DriveThru RPG) with the tiles on top.

Use a map that's not intended for gaming at all and let the one inch grid pattern transform it into gaming terrain; Or even place the tiles on a traditional game mat.

RPG's, like D&D, may likely be the most effected by this project, opening up new worlds for your adventurers to explore. Simply adding a forresty map, a stony castle floor or a dark dungeon beneath the tiles may be all your adventurers need to make the game feel a bit more immersive. But don't just stop at RPG's. These tiles can be used in a great deal more, including miniature games that could play with a scaled grid system for measuring.

But consider this- what about all the tile based board games we've seen recently that play on one inch grids? The Tiles of Adventure can allow you to place whatever you'd like beneath them, and with the use of four tiles, you've completely changed the look of your board game.

These tile sets come in a sets of six, nine, and twelve, with the option of a handy MDF storage box to keep them safe and stowed away when not in use. And Impudent Mortal does two noteworthy things in their projects. The sooner you back the project, the sooner you get your pledge, as they honor delivery based on the order they were received, and two.

They do not have canned stretch goals for the project. They allow the backers to drive what they would like to see from a project. For example, a thread in the comments is already polling people regarding a hex grid on the tiles. If there is enough interest in a request, it will be considered and brought into the project as an option.

What games do you play that could be transformed with these clever tiles?
