KoW Game Design: Alessio Cavatore spills the beans!
July 30, 2010 in Kings of War, Rerun by johnlyons
For our coverage on Kings of War we delve into the world of tabletop games design and see just what considerations have gone into the upcoming ruleset for Kings of War. In this one Warren chats to the game’s designer Alessio Cavatore (Of 40K Fame) about how Mantic are approaching the development of Kings of War.
This is mega early access to the game development process guys, something you rarely see in the wargames industry. To be fair they will make a lot of changes to how the game plays, but you can get a real feel for what Mantic and Cavatore are trying to achieve. And we like what we’re hearing what about you?
Why not check out the new Kings of War groups and ask whatever questions you have:

Well it’s good to see he came through the recent ordeal relatively unscathed
Big fan of Alessio so i’m pretty excited about getting a look at the beta rules… More when you’re ready BoW! xo
Everything that man said sounds so clever and I fully agree.
Finally that piece of “easy to learn – hard to master”-ruleset I’ve been looking for all these years? Please, make it happen!
Really looking forward to that beta.
I think every game that is fair and well balanced is hard to master.
So the simpler the rules are, the less “bugs” are there and the easier it will be balanced.
As long als it won’t get as simple as checkers or tic-tac-toe it’ll be fine
That is great. Thanks BoW and Alessio for interviews like this, it really puts a feeling of access to anyone interested in the creation of the games we are all playing. Special stuff. Thanks
I could site and listen to Alessio all day. What a nice guy : )
