Mantic Games have been chatting about the coming of Kings of War 2nd Edition which will be out in August. A new post over on their blog shows off some of the fantastic new artwork for the main rulebook AND a bit of a sneaky look inside the book itself...

Awesome Art

The first piece of awesome news is the fantastic artwork below by Ralph Horsley. It pictures the Goblins and Ogres facing off against a force of the Undead on a huge battlefield. I think the art is looking superb and really serves to bring to life the mass battle feel of the game.

KoW Front Cover Art

I particularly like the fact that they went with at least one faction that you wouldn't normally see on the front of a rulebook. You'd assume Humans or Dwarfs would be the focus but they went with the Goblins and I think that is a neat little twist.

Talking of armies, these are the ones that are going to be available within...

  • Abyssal Dwarfs
  • Basileans
  • Dwarfs
  • Elves
  • Forces of the Abyss
  • Forces of Nature
  • Goblins
  • Kingdoms of Men
  • Ogres
  • Orcs
  • Undead

Inside The Book

Of course the rulebook is a lot more than just art. See what you think of some of the page previews below which show off the magic, magical weapons and more that will be available for you. You might even spy some Dragon type creatures...

Magic Items

Nerve

I think the presentation of the book is looking very nice indeed and it's good to see some full colour artwork AND miniatures in there to give you a taste of how the whole world meshes together. I actually sometimes completely forget looking at the rules to look at the pretty pictures!

Did you spy those Dragons there too? I think they're looking awesome and it will be fun to see how that army grows over the next few months.

Ogre Art

Spell Rules

Kings of War seems to be coming out at about the right time when you think about it. With Warhammer changing there is a need for a full on mass battle Fantasy game and Kings of War has proved that it more than competently fills that role.

Will you be picking up this new edition?
