Lovey job @aurorainbag, they look great! Not much beats that feeling of completing a big project like that! :)

@warworksdk Fully agree that we’ve heard this before however GAW also talk about the hobby and this is the collection aspect rather than the gaming side. Yes, to play a 2000pt game will require models that may cost but don’t forget that unless you are going to play tournament, there other some (limited) options out there [...]

    Hey folks!
Just a few days to go until the Nickstarter finishes- and there’s just a few hundred to go until everybody gets a free goat-sucking Chupacabra! :-)

@onlyonepinman said: I was about to say that Tom knew about miniatures and wargaming, I just think he lost his way a bit. Call it delusions of grandeur. Looking at the company during the time he has been involved he leaves behind a net positive (comparing GW now and GW in 1991); he had a good run [...]

@tobymagill It’s good value, yes, but then again… If someone offered me a Ferrari for £100.000 it would be good value, but it would also be way more than I could afford… I agree that there will always be problem with two-player boxes. The best solution, I would suggest, is to drop them entirely and instead [...]

Looking at the mini’s I’m edging even more towards Calth. Those dreadnoughts! I like the idea of the fights happening at the start of the heresy and being in claustrophobic tunnels.

Hey, @craigwrdouglas thanks for your reply. I appreciate it. I think I’m edging towards Calth or Prospero. I like the gene-stealers and all, but I think deep down I’m holding out for a reissue for of Space Hulk because I truly loved that. Between Calth and Prospero do you have a recommendation or preference? I feel [...]

The manufacturer sent us the final 3D rendering. Mold manufacturing are really expensive so it will start only if the campaign is succesful. The manufacturer is currently making one prototype for validation, after that the box is ready for production. Dimensions are 14cm x 19 cm x 2,6 cm High quality ABS plastic. A lot [...]

Whilst Bryan was head honcho before the buyout, Tom was still high up in the company. I believe he ran TSR UK before that.

I have all 3 – They are similar in terms of the games (that is that they are a board game set in the 40k/30k universe with minis) – the first two are Horus Heresy (or 30K if you prefer) The new Dark Imperium 40K starter set is pretty good too. Buy the one that [...]

@warworksdk i take your point on the Dark Imperium box being a lot higher priced, but I would argue you still get good value from the price due to the number/quality of minitures and full rule book etc. I also take the point you might not be interested in either/both of the armies (at the moment [...]

A person who doesn’t understand miniature gaming or gamers really shouldn’t be in the position of running a miniature gaming company from a wise business perspective. That’s like Disney naming a CEO who hates children and fun.

@caladors Peeling paint and rust. I’ve use masking fluid in the past to produce a rusted and chipped paint finish. It’s a pretty painless/foolproof method (it has to be – i’m a pretty inventive fool!): 1) Base coat your model in a variety of random rust shades (rust is brighter around hot areas like exhausts) 2) [...]

Absolutely @warworksdk and totally agree. Aircraft design between 1900 to 1918 is another case in point. War is the pruning shears of dead end designs. However I am dragged towards these dead ends regardless of logic or not. Going on my aircraft design example I am moved to the period about 20 years prior to powered [...]

There’s nothing inherently wrong with wanting to view themselves as a luxury product as long as they admit to themselves that they aren’t the only luxury product of their type. Lots of other high quality fantasy and sci fi miniatures now and as long as they realise they have to compete (and they seem to [...]

I agree with @tobymagill they have made quite a lot of moves to reduce their prices. It’s true that the price of new products are individually quite expensive, there are numerous bundles and starter boxes you can buy to quickly build a starter force for a fairly low price. The start collecting boxes are unbelievably good [...]

@redvers That’s the line we’ve heard from them for years. They’re the best, so people will pay whatever they ask for their plastic crack… As the last handful of years have clearly shown, that’s downright false. We all have our upper limit for what we’re willing to pay, and as more and more people reached that [...]

@rayzryr ha! Must be the season for cursed weapons and the associated inter-party brawling. @tobymagill True, now they’ve released a stripped down starter box at £25. But that wasn’t what launched the game – that was a £95 box. In any case, both of these boxes have some serious issues… Firstly, they’re rather limited in scope. What if I don’t want to play either of these two armies? And even [...]

@roguestar The ERP project is a replacement to all their dull back office systems. This usually means finance/accounting, HR etc. Systems like SAP – it’s dull and heavily prone to over running in cost and time, as GAW are experiencing now. They have had this listed on their risk register for a while. @warworksdk GAW do address [...]

@rayzryr – I’d say you’re off to a good start. It’ll be interesting to see what your work looks like when your mojo is back in full. I’ve always found that the best paintjobs are done by those who have fun doing them. @caladors – In my experience, relationships can very much reduce the hobby time. If [...]
