Well just got done with these pretty little guys. although it is literally one hour away from the turnement. but all in all i think that they look good. @oriskany From earlier thank you for the compliment on the pink been having to learn how to paint with it for a while since all my fantasy [...]
@chrisg nicely summed up as always use the best tool for the job, with the slaughter preist comp a survey/poll makes sense as it was a fixed subject and lends itself to comparative scoring, where as a open competition such as yours really would be the impossible to comparatively score by stars etc.
So after the insanity of painting over 200 Napoleonic Miniatures in two weeks, I decided it was time for a change of pace. Alongside a couple of commissions, I decided to start off building and painting some of my Heavy Gear Blitz backer rewards. I went in pretty heavy (excuse the pun) on the kickstarter [...]
@querion 1) yes the Sherman icons were free handed 2) the AT gun and SU-100 aren’t nearly that bright, it’s photography under my painting desk lamp that really blows out the contrast. The pinup is actually painted on the other side of that same tank, so the pinup picture shows the tank under more normal [...]
So, today we started to assemble the first troops of our armies, we both agreed to start with 400 points of infantry for our first little skirmish. I am really impressed with how much stuff you get in just one box of infantry, The models are a bit fiddly to assemble but there is a [...]
I love Dipping Day. When I’ve finished up a bunch of stuff and then dip it all in armypainter quickshade.
Then I know I’m just 24hrs from adding a huge chunk of stuff to the finished pile.
@oriskany It was all freehand. Sorry mate, hope the pool is nice and deep… Those tanks look awesome. @torros really, really pleased to hear the kitty is home and safe. The $$ don’t matter in a situation like that, do they? ALways some way to scrape it together and so worth the effort. @unclejimmy and @yavasa Ya big girls [...]
Pledge paint interior of storm raven, or write a tutorial on dirt cheap water effects or finish off drop pod or just do day job and keep job by getting 2.1 out by Friday… 1. close the bog seat or your fortune disappears 2. multi tool and a lighter 3. smartarse, metal head, pacifist 4. [...]
First Brushstrokes awesome as always. Secondly lets have a quick chat about the scoring and counting system, or rather let me let you know what I think and why more to the point. With the monthly painting as with any comp pictures in progress are often great being as good as the finished and I [...]
Right, @torros ? “I think I feel asleep in the snow.” I think my favorite line from that movie comes from Admiral Canaris, having returned from a meeting of the German High Command. Lamenting on the sychophantic, self-delusional, machiavellian madness, he exclaims . . . “And I looked around that room, and I said to myself, [...]
Completed with decals, troop markings, small details:
Tomorrow afternoon I will hopefully be able to let these up in a nicer “studio shoot” (like my Leopard 2s earlier) with an actual camera instead of my iPhone.
Eagle has landed is a great film but a British wartime film called Went the day well is excellent and quite similar
Now pass me one if those Bolshevik firecrackers while I read the rest of these posts

@mage I guess that is one way of looking at it, I am every single sterotype ever when it comes to getting a bargain so even though there is a huge amount on offer here, it hasn’t set me back too far. I want to share a bit of the love WAYPN I think is a [...]
Okay, a few more hobby pics. Currently exiled from my home by termite pesticide, I admit these photos are “canned” from Wednesday and Thursday. Nonetheless, some early war British armor:
Built, primed, base-coated, and airbrushed:
Basic details painted (tracks, commanders, exhaust, weapons):
First darkwash and dry brushing applied:
Good morning, everyone. And, yes, I mean GOOD MORNING. Down here at Fort Lauderdale beach, the weather is absolutely perfect. Posting outdoors, here’s my POV as I type this. The kind of morning where you look up at the sky and say: “Yep. God got laid last night.” Okay, so first some replies: @fishman – awesome [...]

It’s a real honour to see two of my models up for voting, and even the dragon dias. You know it’s been a year since I got Kingdom Death in the post, and so it has been quite the ride painting them. More so given I have only been back into painting for 3 years [...]

Very generous of you dude
@unclejimmy I knew I forgot to answer the bulk of your original post. With the fighting I got two silver medals. I was mentioned in a local newspaper too. Gradings work as a formal test, where a teacher thinks you are ready. Your fitness, flexibility, theory, korean, patterns, self defence, technique, combinations and sparring are all [...]
I know everyone is going to shout out but rather than go into it here on Nakchacks great comp thread nip over to Octobers painting comp thread for a reasonable answer on this very topic.
Oh Jeez thank you for reminding me I will have to edit in the most improved person into the current post @querion ! Well guys here are the voting stations for best painter, best scenic shot and best contributor I think there is someone I just mentioned who may be taking the top spot… but who [...]
I said I’d join in this weekend, so here I am! My pledge: to finish painting my Wolf Guards. 1. Tell me an ‘old-wives tale’ you were told was true when you were young. e.g., my grandmother used to tell me if you swallowed chewing gum it would “tie up your puddings”. That if [...]
And on to the final stretch, i’ll try to tackle everything in this post now, so expect a lot of text And after that it’s time to get the brushes out. @brushstroke (1) gold: congratulations on a very well deserved first place! I don’t know what your competition was, but all the work you put [...]
@unclejimmy thanks It’s a warcaster for Warmachine for the Cygnar faction.
Nice looking ammo. Speaking of Inifinity stuff… I started painting these some time ago for my PanO but I seem to have some problems with finishing them…
