As many of us are big fans of The Lord of the Rings hopefully there was a bit of excitement this week as Amazon announced that they were going to be working with the Tolkien Estate and Trust, HarperCollins and New Line in order to bring Middle-Earth to the small screen with its own series.
There’s no word at this early stage as to what stories they’re going to be pursuing but it won’t re-tell the story of The Lord of the Rings itself, made spectacularly for the silver screen by Peter Jackson.
Instead, they are going to be looking at unexplored stories from Tolkien’s original writings which sounds like it could be fascinating. Personally, I’m hoping for some Elladan & Elrohir (seen below) action with Elrond’s two sons going off on some adventures.
As a long time Middle-Earth fan it’s great to hear that there is still work going on to try and bring more of it to different mediums. Amazon has done some sterling work on TV programs over the last few years and hopefully, they’ll have a good team behind this looking to tell some wonderful stories.
Are you looking forward to this?
