The TV show I am most excited about this year has to be the upcoming NBC series around my favourite white collar wizard Constantine, an excitement that is reaching fever pitch with the unveiling of the new trailer!
The trailer opens with John Constantine, professional exorcist and “petty dabbler” of the Dark Arts, having checked himself into a mental asylum. However, things are never simple for the laughing magician and he soon gets drawn back into a world of spirits and daemons and most likely out of his depth.
So, what does this trailer tell us? Well, firstly that Constantine is back to being the blond cynical Brit we all know and love, though minus the smokes and with a suitably tuned down accent for an American audience.
Secondly, he is once again on a mission to save his soul from damnation, going up against angels, daemons and a point-of-view side character.
The best bit about this is that it is apparently based upon the Hellblazer series, rather than the New 52 comics, which saw Constantine undergo a bit of streamlining to fit in more with super-hero genre.
All in all, I am hopeful for this. It has the look right and the plot sounds promising, with rumours of Hellblazer regular Papa Midnight as the main antagonist of the series.
What does it all add up to? Well, someone tell the Supernatural fans that it’s time for Castiel to give John his coat back.
Will you be tuning in for Constantine’s TV debut?
