The last trailer for Michael Bay's new film take on the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles met with a somewhat mixed response from fans, but maybe this new trailer can help win people over.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

This new trailer shows off a bit more of the wise-cracking team we came to know and love, and at times even seems to parody the incredibly dark super hero movies prevalent at the moment, which was after all the intention behind the original comic.

It seems the humour even verges upon the self aware, openly acknowledging how ridiculous its own premise is and even mentioning the concept of the turtles being aliens, which was a rumoured direction Micheal Bay would adopt when the film was first announced and left many fans crying havoc.

We also get our first proper look at the iconic villain Shredder.

Shredder vs Splinter

All in all, this trailer has me a bit more hopeful for the fate of this film than I initially was. The self-referential humour is a refreshing approach to super hero cinema at the moment, if they can pull it off. I still think the turtles themselves look really creepy, but I think I may have to go see it after all.

As the trailer itself says, four turtles fighting a robot samurai... why not?
