Paranoid Miniatures has managed to sneak out a WIP piece of art for a “little” something from the Wildborn faction. I think it’s so interesting the way a piece of artwork can draw you in and have you trying to piece together the story behind what you are looking at.
“When we die in our dreams, do we die in life? I think we all know the answer to that.
Is it when we close our eyes that our minds are most vulnerable? Do we dream or do we enter something else’s dream? Is it in our dreams that we can hear the whispers of beings beyond our understanding filtering through?
Is the life we live truly our own or merely the touch of something so unimaginably powerful, that to look upon it or be seen by it for the briefest second, would destroy us to our core?
Some people remember their dreams. Do you? What is it you dream of? Do you wake up holding onto the feelings of those dreams? Do you try to hold onto to their content, the images and the senses they awakened in you?
When we think of dreams do we realise that they existed, that they were formed even if it was only in our minds eye? That they came to be, that for the briefest moments they became a reality, a truth, a plane of existence somewhere in the universe.
We talk about our dreams sometimes; we speculate, put meaning to and brush them aside with plausible reasons why. We even laugh and joke and think nothing of it.
Science thinks it has begun to understand our dreams, that it can draw conclusions and interpretations that it can give explanation and reason to those things we see while we sleep. But it cannot control what we dream.
It seems strange to me we rarely remember our dreams, is it that they are a mirror to our soul better forgotten? Do they show the truths of our being, our wants and needs? Sometimes they are things of darkness, of shadow and fear. We break from them short of breath, bedding twisted in the throes of our bodies.
We say to ourselves ‘it’s alright, it was just a dream’. We soothe ourselves knowing we are still in the same place, surrounded by the same things and the dream fades and loses its grasp upon us.
But not everyone forgets and some dreams do not fade away, even though we would wish it were so. Nightmares and night terrors can scar the soul; they find purchase in a part of your mind that only you have the key for. There is no cure, no remedy, no medicine that can be taken, for fear awaits our days end and the closing of our eyes before we slip into that other world.
So if our dreams are a gateway, a connection, a window into our soul that we look out of, what if something else looked in?
What if a sleeping God dreamed?
Would its conjured beings only exist in its dreams or would they take form, become reality and still be there when we woke up?
And if a God could dream, then what would the nightmares of a God look like? Would they take you to the brink of sanity or push you over into madness?
There’s only one way to find out.
Welcome to Mythos!”
Can you feel the Madness taking shape in the world of Mythos?
