Japanese sculptor Y_Nakajima has taken the beloved character of Thomas the Tank Engine and thought "What if he ended up in the post-apocalypse?" The result is this incredibly creepy creation.

According to the website grapee.jp, this model was created my mixing together a Thomas the Tank Engine and a Combat Creatures miniature.

Y_Nakajima even came up with a bit of backstory for the figure:

"Sir Topham Hatt lost everything he had, and giving into despair and madness manipulated the AI-equipped body of Thomas the Tank Engine into a ravenous death machine."

Perhaps the coolest thing here though is the fact that Thomas has been given a working laser, capable of popping balloons and lighting matches.

There is something undeniably disturbing about seeing Thomas' head mounted on a machine of destruction. That calm, friendly smile looks almost manic by this point.

What do you think of Y_Nakajima's re-imagining? Are there any other childhood classics that you think belong in the post-apocalypse?

"Madness manipulated the AI-equipped body of Thomas the Tank Engine into a ravenous death machine..."
