The folks at Stoessi’s Heroes have shown off four new characters for you to throw into the mix when you’re creating your World War II armies. Many of the main fighting forces are covered but let’s start with the Allies.
Kicking things off above we have David Sterling, also known as the Phantom Major. He was the mind behind the first elements of the SAS and helped train these men to become the fine fighting force they became.
Montgomery was said to have declared him “quite possibly mad” but his skills were key for use in wartime.
Next up we have a member of the US Air Force with Robert E. Hogan.
He was one of the senior ranking POW officers in a prison camp called Stalag 13. He was able to run a secret Anti-Nazi campaign and group within the POW camp and helped rescue downed Allied pilots, getting them back to Old Blighty.
On the other side of things we have German Kommandant Oberst Wilhelm Klink & Oberfeldwebel Hans Georg Schultz for your Axis forces.
These fellows were actually the leaders in charge of Stalag 13. Despite all the horrors of the camps there was a rule of “I know nothing. I see nothing. I hear nothing” which avoided them being sent away to fight on the terrible Russian front.
We also have Hiroo Onoda for your Japanese forces as they go island hopping.
Hiro refused to surrender in 1945 and went into hiding in the Philippines conducting guerrilla operations until the Japanese personally came to find him in 1974 and relieve him of his duty.
Well, you can’t say that he wasn’t a die hard soldier.
What do you think of these new heroes?
