Games Workshop have popped up what could be some of their last miniatures for The Battle of the Five Armies collection, part of The Hobbit Strategy Battle Game. See what you think of Bard, Bolg and Azog…
First up we check out Bard with a mounted and on-foot version wielding a rather nice looking sword. I actually quite like the on-foot version of Bard bedecked in his battle worthy attire. Once again I think this might be a case of where the painting doesn’t show off the miniatures in the best light.
As well as Bard there are the infamous foes that will be facing Thorin & Company on the battlefield. Not only do we have Azog the ballerina but also Bolg mounted on a Warg and on-foot. I think Azog is pretty neat although he doesn’t have the ferocity of the previous version we’d seen from the Unexpected Journey and Desolation of Smaug. Something about the face looks weird and not at all menacing.
Bolg is certainly much better and while his Warg is rather lanky and could probably use a good meal his on-foot version is very cool. I think the painting on him, oddly enough, is pretty good.
I’d still use the Gundabad Orc General though I reckon.
What do you think?
