Time for another look at the out come of a night’s gaming at BOW HQ, as Justin and Darrell have a look at how the Crimson Fists fared against Darrell’s GaleCon army.
i think the list is very interesting and may try it myself i think its a great adjustment to the one you were sent and it includes one of my favourite units. The Thunderfire Cannon. its devastating even against 2+ saves. p.s. the removal of combat tactics doesnt prevent combat squadding just the ability to retreat when you want also drop pods can hold 12 guys not 10.
Drop pods have a transport capacity of 10 models according to the Blood Angels codex. I don’t have the Space Marine codex to hand to check that, but I find it hard to believe they are different. I also don’t recall anything in an FAQ about changing it, but maybe I missed it.
have just checked my blood angels dex and it is 10 in there but when i rechecked my codex marines it says 12… it is odd isnt it? unfortunately i dont have a space wolves dex or id check that too….
I am curious. Is your codex a paper one or on the ipad? Just to see if they have changed anything in the digital version. I know GW have a record of the same weapon costing different points values or even having different rules (Storm Shield) due to changes in newer dexs. But the Blood Angels codex is newer than the regular marine dex. Although the electronic version of the marine dex is newer than the Blood Angels paper one. Its all sooooo confusing!
its the paper one i actually got it on the day of its release I’ve had a read through the faqs and none of the marine dex’s have a change on drop pods… it is odd that they’re different there isn’t any fluff reasons are there?
Space Wolves is also 10 models. I am going to check my copy of the Space Marine codex when I get home. It will be even funnier if it is different among the Space Marine codex itself due to print runs or something
I should also point out that the drop pod model itself only has 10 harnesses for ten people. Not that it means anything as such You wouldn’t actually get a dreadnought into a drop pod if you go my the size of the models. At least, not without some difficulty.
was thinking of pointing this out myself…. the codex marine one is meant to fit in a techmarine in full servo harness and a thunderfire cannon in too :L
oh itd be hilarious but very confusing :p
Codex Space Marines drop pods hold 12 models p. 69 of codex, and they can combat squad out of the drop pods which can be done as you dis-embark the drop pod p.51. Must have found an STC with an extra door but GW just hasn’t made the model yet. Good to be a codex marine.
it’s great hearing about how your battles went, but it would have been immensely more entertaining if you had have taken a video of them, even with the constant rule book reading that is inevitable in playing 40k
Not a space marine player, but couldn’t it be a good idea to add that missile launcher thingy onto the empty drop pod? if I remember correctly it is a large blast with “24 range S5, would add some teeth to it atleast:P
The range is actually 12 inches and I don’t believe you can fire that on the turn you arrive.
Its great that everyone is on about drop pods but please tell me where it says scouts can take a dedicated transport?
it doesn’t i posted bout that on the forums because i saw references to scouts taking transports everywhere! thought i was missing something
Just checked out the list, but need to point some things out, since I also run a list similar to this:
Space Marine FAQ, Telion gives camo cloaks to the scout squad for free, because of his rules, might have changed though, but if it didn’t saves you some points.
You can use the saved points to upgrade your combi-flamers to a couple of heavy flamers, or add some combi-meltas.
