Take A Look Inside The New Space Marine Codex

Games Workshop gave folks a look inside the new Space Marine Codex this weekend and it is looking very snazzy indeed. Additionally, the main image that accompanied it also showed off a few tasty morsels too.
On the left of the images above you can see the new models for the Chaplain and the Apothecary sitting nicely amongst their fellow Battle Brothers. But, as well as that nice treat you got to see inside the Codex too.
As with most Codices, it's going to cover a lot of the background on the Space Marines themselves as well as the varying Chapters that have come to life over the years. You'll also find plenty of ways to play your favourite Chapters with specific rules to help make them feel individual on the table.
Chapter tactics, stratagems, special characters, warlord traits, special psychic powers and more are going to be found in the Codex. It does sound like it's going to be quite the feast for the eyes for Space Marine players, both new and old, who are diving into Warhammer 40,000 in the new edition.
You have to hope that in the future other Codices are also going to be just as packed with information. I'm particularly looking forward to what they do for the Eldar and who knows, maybe the Sisters Of Battle!

Looks like GW is keeping high quality that we have used to with they codices. That said what they show is very Smurf heavy and I would had love to see one of pages for some other chapter but then again this was expected.
That Chaplain looks excellent. Fingers crossed he’ll be a little more reasonably priced than the last two characters.
Can see myself grabbing every codex for this edition, just to reboot my knowledge of the fluff.
I think the characters look around the same size – and Chaplains are always a popular combat choice – doubt they’ll give you a reduction on that. What’s quite interesting for me is the Apothecary here – he seems to be standing outwith the unit he’s nearest – like… an independent character? Independent Apothecaries? What insanity is this? Perhaps a new “healer” role – add wounds back ONTO Primaris Marines within 3″ or something? That would make the cost of Primaris (and simple 2 Wound bonus over Vanilla Marines) look a whole lot tastier. (also – the Primaris are hilarious… Read more »
You’ll find apothecaries work like the other characters now. Rather than giving a buff to a squad they join, they’ll have a bubble of influence and any squad/model inside that benefit from the effect.
the new character’s look fabulous especially the high marshal.
I just like the rebith of the Scythes in this way so much.
