Darrell gets some skirmishers out to look into a question about formation and how to bend the rules a little bit.
that bloody beep near the end of the video scared me a little:P
nooooooooooooo…. Buffalo: Yeh I actually jumped
Uhm, so why do you think the rule suck? Just on account of it not working like befor (and the rules befor where quite poor and abuseable). Skirmishers works well now, all the ½ inch do is to make them less of a target for templates, the rest is about movement (constant free reform, shooting while marching, and the stubborn in woods) traded for the the loss of rank bonuses. Skirmish works just fine now, it’s not the broken mess it was in former editions, and now stands more clear (still a few questions about it but that uncommon common sense should make things pretty clear), and works with less hassle then befor.
That was my question.
What do you mean if your opponent is an arse? I’d never want to play with you guys if you think playing by the rules is being an arse…
You know what sucks? Spirit Hosts are now considered Swarms. And Swarms are Skirmishers. Spirit Host have almost 0 advantage of being Skirmishers: They don’t shoot, already treat all terrain as ‘open ground’, would have gain rank bonus if they werent skirmishers….. Sorry, just a bit agitated here Good video btw
I think this new rule sucks I agree with Darrel (I don’t use the new rule when i play)
Can you deploy your skirmishers in a completely different way to how the rules let you? Sure, provided my mortars never scatter and my helblaster dice always come up 10s. Why not just make up our own rules as we go along?
The rules were fixed for a reason. They were too easily exploited in previous editions. Yes, skirmishers aren’t as useful as they used to be, but neither are units of cavalry or tooled up characters. I agree with Undeadempire. If I’m an arse for playing by the rules, our game wouldn’t last through the deployment phase.
i like to play by the rules to but the people i play against are used to 7th ed so we don’t use the new rules for skirmisher formations. thats all
And i ment i have not used the rule when i play sorry.
Well, for me as a dark elf player, its my scouts that gets stuck whit this rule, and i dont mind all that much. it might be becaus i got shooty scirmishers, and tho ive lost the old 360 los, theyr still great for shooting things up, and the new rules pretty much sets the unit size to 10 models, since the footprint of the unit wil be rather big.
